It was a lovely afternoon in the ITZY dormitory. Everyone was minding their business, and it seemed like a perfect day!
Everyone was calm, happy, and relaxed as they enjoyed their weekend.
Chaeryeong was lounging in the living room, scrolling through her phone. Yuna was in her room watching something on her computer, Lia was also in her room, listening to a variety of music on her vinyl record player, and Ryujin was out for a walk.
Yeji wandered around the dorm, checking in on the others, making small talk here and there, and admiring the collection of souvenirs they had gathered from their travels around the world.
Today felt different; Yeji didn't feel like using any of her devices. She was usually the type to be glued to her phone, scrolling, texting, calling, and managing her busy schedule.
She thought it might be nice to take a break and explore what ITZY had to offer.
Without intending to, Yeji entered Ryujin's room. Ryujin always allowed her members to enter as long as the door was open and they promised not to touch her things. Yeji admired the photos and objects in Ryujin's room, appreciating her unique style of decorating.
The room was organized, clean, and comfortable. Whenever Yeji saw the photos Ryujin had hung up or displayed, it brought back fond memories, making her smile.
Yeji's eyes landed on Ryujin's guitar, which rested in the corner of the room near her bed. She glanced around before carefully picking it up.
Ryujin often played the guitar after a long day, and Yeji enjoyed hearing those soothing melodies before bed. She could recognize any song Ryujin chose to play, which was usually either freestyle or acoustic versions of their songs.
Wanting to try for herself, Yeji sat on Ryujin's bed. At first, she didn't know how to hold the guitar, but after a moment, she figured it out. She gazed at the strings and body of the guitar in awe, wondering how she would look if she knew how to play.
As Yeji began to strum, she noticed that one string was slightly out of tune.
Yeji hesitated. She wasn't sure how to tune the guitar, and neither were the other members in the dorm. She knew Ryujin could tune it without a tuner.
Following the string up to the head of the guitar, she stared at the peg in confusion for a solid minute before deciding to give it a shot. She grabbed the peg and carefully twisted it.
Unsure of the note, she kept twisting until she thought the sound was right.
After a few adjustments, she strummed the strings to test it out.
'SNAP!'
Yeji's eyes widened in shock. It scared her to death. What terrified her more was that the string had completely broken off.
Her heart raced with anxiety. She tried to fix it, but it was no use. Knowing Ryujin would be back from her walk any minute, she scrambled to put the guitar back.
Yeji's hands were sweaty as she exited Ryujin's room and rushed into her own, closing the door behind her.
Guilt washed over her. She had never broken anything belonging to a member before. She was scared of how they would react. Would Ryujin scold her? Would she be angry for the rest of the day? Would she retaliate by breaking something of hers?
Yeji didn't want to think about the possibilities. But she couldn't tell the truth either... hiding seemed like the best option until Ryujin returned.
