RHAENYRA HAS RETURNED
to her home after finding the remaining piece of Arrax's wings and Lucerys' torn clothes soaked in dry blood and seawater."Enter," Rhaenyra responded to the knocks on the doors of her chambers. "Princess Aelora, Your Grace." One of the Queensguards informed and Aelora made her way to the Queen as she stood up.
Rhaenyra motioned to the guard to leave herself and her daughter as he obeyed, closing the doors behind him and waiting outside. Aelora's eyes were filled with sorrow with dry tears noticed on her cheeks. She took a shaky breath and glanced up to her mother,
"Lord Cregan Stark... has p-promised 2,000 men—" Aelora couldn't finish her sentence with tears began streaming down her cheeks and rushing into her mother's embrace.
"Shh, it's alright, my sweet girl." Rhaenyra comforted in a sweet voice, glancing up as she held in her tears while Aelora sobbed in the crook of her neck.
"I should've stayed, I failed to protect him..." Aelora whispered and Rhaenyra broke upon hearing those words escape her eldest child's mouth. The Queen knew Aelora was only fulfilling her duties as the heir and with Aemond's leave, she had a lot of tears that needed to be released.
"Come," Rhaenyra said and led the two of them on the couch nearby. She cupped Aelora's face and brushed her tears with her thumbs, "It is not your fault, my sweet one. Do not blame yourself....ever. He wouldn't want that." She spoke, referring to Lucerys.
Aelora took deep breaths and calmed herself as the doors opened once again—Jacaerys stepping inside with Baela by his side. As soon as the princess noticed the family gathered, she left.
"Lady Arryn has pledged her support," Jacaerys began, his shaking hands folded together in front of him as Aelora noticed that and slowly stood up. "In exchange for a d-dragon to guard the Vale."
Tears began falling from Jacaerys' eyes as Aelora pulled him into her arms. Quiet sobs escaped the two siblings in the memory of their younger brother and the dragons' roar was heard from outside as Aelora immediately recognised it as Vermithor's.
________
Funeral of Lucerys Velaryon begun as the Blacks quietly watched the fire sparks. Rhaenyra, Jacaerys and Joffrey all threw something that belonged to Lucerys into the fire. Aelora stood in the middle of the House Velaryon and her family. Daemon approached his daughters, both Baela and Rhaena nodded to him as he made his way to Aelora.
The Princess gripped hard on Lucerys' belongings with her lips informed into a thin line as a tear slid down her cheek. Daemon placed his hand on her shoulder as the two share a glance. He glanced towards the fire as Aelora took a deep breath. She stepped closer to it and brought the small carved dragon she had played with when her younger brother was born and one of his blankets to her face. Aelora placed a teary kiss and threw them into the fire. The fire sparked in her eyes as she watched it burn slowly.
