Again a busy day in Mumbai...

He was running late for the film narration with the director and couldn't afford any delays. The traffic was chaotic, with cars honking and people rushing. The car was going through them as much as possible.

"Faisal after this, I have a brandshoot also, am I right?"

"Ji Sir"

He rubbed his temple leaning backwards. He sometimes enjoyed being a workaholic but sometimes it became too pathetic to work constantly. He wanted a vacation but in past few years, no vacation had fascinated him much. Now the Chocolate Boy had also become Grumpy Aaryan according to his fans.

"How can anyone look so cute in this type of simple outfit?" a girl from her team complemented.

Sara smiled. She was wearing a pink baggy full sleeve shirt and jeans. Her hair was open loose behind and all she had on her lips was natural lip gloss.

"Don’t flatter me. By the way when's the meeting scheduled for?"

"After an hour"

Sara nodded and took her book to read some pages meanwhile.

"So Kartik are u interested?" director Luv Ranjan Sir asked him.

"Sir...honestly that's the best plot I have ever heard of but how'bout the ending?" Kartik asked.

"Actually I wanted to keep it a secret whosoever would be the lead. It will be a different kind of experience for the actors too"

"Oh..that sounds different"

"And may I ask who will be the female lead?"

"Umm not decided yet...just have a few options in my mind. Let's see"

"Look Kartik...you take your time, manage your schedule and then inform me. You are my first choice and I visualise you as the character for a long time now"

"Sure Sir...I'll be really glad. I will let you know" Kartik said standing up.

He shook hand and left the cabin. He came outside and as usual there was a big crowd of paps waiting for him. How weirdly he still sometime misheard someone calling him Sartik...He always did from 2019. He did a few poses and got into his car.

"Why didn’t you tell about Sara?" Mr. Vijan asked him.

"She is not confirmed yet so let her come fast"

"What if they don't want to work opposite...I mean..."

"We are in a business Dinu...that's their personal life. If they don’t wanna work opposite then then they can move out. I won't mind"

She glanced at her wrist watch, silently willing the cars ahead to move faster. The traffic is heavy, cars honking and drivers impatiently switching lanes.

As fate would have it, two long lost lovers cars were heading towards each other from opposite directions. The slow-moving traffic creates a bottleneck, forcing both of them to slow down even further.

Kartik was engrossed in his phone and Sara's eyes were on the front as if trying to shorten the way she had to cross to reach fast. They didn’t even look the cars that were passing them.

For a brief, dramatic moment, their cars passed each other, close enough that they could have seen each other if only they had been paying attention.

Both remained unaware of how close they came to an unexpected reunion.

"Come in Sara. How're you?" they greeted her when she entered.

"I'm good Sir" she smiled...

After a good one hour of narration obviously without the ending part, she said,

"That's brilliant Sir but I need some time to reschedule my time. I hope you understand"

"Yeah yeah sure"

She was done with her works for the day so decided to go back home.

After a long and exhausting day, she came to her room with a cup of coffee. She locked the door and found somethings on her bed that meant to be inside the cupboard.

As she opens the cupboard door and kept the things not so neatly yet considerable, a small box tucked away on the top shelf gets nudged. It tips over slightly, causing its contents to spill out.

Photographs, once she neatly packed away trying not to remember , cascade to the floor. Sara looked at them, her breath catching in her throat. She kneeled down, her eyes scanning the familiar images scattered around her.

These were photographs from her time with Kartik—moments of joy, laughter, and love captured in still frames.

She saw particular dates written on them specially from their New York days. She waved her fingers over them. She had no idea if the ocd guy had still the copies of these kept hidden inside his overly neat cupboard. She didn’t know if he felt the same like she was feeling then.

She caressed every picture and very carefully placed them again in the box and kept inside the cupboard.

Kartik finished the advertisement shoot and was coming home by the car. But again making his day more worse, traffic jam did its job.

He had quit his habit of being on Instagram but still a habit remains a habit no matter what. He had gone through the feed. He saw things by the different fanpages of him. And obviously he had to sneak into the Sartikian ones. He got a bit astonished on the fact that where he believed that there would be no chance of him getting his love back, in which fate these fans were believing or in which manifestion they were doing.

Suddenly he saw them posting him and her appearing at the same place simultaneously. He didn’t have a clue about Sara coming there after he left. If he knew, he might wait for a while to steal one glimpse of her. He went through the comments.

Kartik saw and quickly kept the phone beside murmuring,  "Yeh sab milke mujhe delusion main daal denge...puri raat overthinking karta reh jaunga"

He looked outside and he noticed the first thing was a car and a couple romancing inside. His heart clenched a bit. Suddenly he saw flashbacks running in his mind but that didn’t last as he reached. Though her thoughts never left him never ever.

Sara was sitting on her window extension sipping from her coffee. She went to her balcony and saw a bright moon though she smiled remembering the person she used to call her moon. She shifted her glance to her coffee mug rubbing the edges of it.

Kartik got freshened up and sat on the edge of his bed looking outside where the moon was shining. He knew that she must had been looking at the moon no matter what. After all she was a Selenophile and he didn’t forget anything about her.

"Kash Kartik hum dono baas yaade banke nahi reh jaate...kash yeh photos hum haar din kheech paate" she smiled spilling a drop of tear on her hand which was rubbing the mug she was holding.

"Kya woh sab sahi keh rahe hain? could she be opo..." he said to himself.

"Dil to chahta hain Kartik ki ek aur mauka mile hum dono ko...baas ek aur"

"Dil to chahta hain ki...tumse fir se kisi na kisi tareeke se mil pau sab thik kar pau"

They wished for the same separately unknowingly. They didn’t even know if they could sort out anything if they got a chance. But something also happened meanwhile...a shooting star appeared in the sky as they finished their like but they missed to see that just like they missed to see the vulnerability of their heart that craved for each other.
