JANUARY 2021
ABUJA, NIGERIA.

"Mummy, you've been crying nonstop for the past two days. Being diagnosed with leukemia doesn't necessarily mean I'll die. It's all about time. If my time to go has come, I must go whether I've been diagnosed with leukemia or not. And if it isn't my time yet, I won't die no matter the circumstances. Please stop getting yourself worked up. You're not alone; you have a baby inside you." Jaiyana weakly said, smiling at her mother.

"And perhaps, everyone is here for me. The doctor assured that I'll get a hundred percent better after the bone marrow transplant. All of my siblings are here and ready to be donors. Isn't it, Daddy? Please talk to her." She whined at El-Kabir, who plastered a painful smile on his face, nodding his head.

"She's right, Safna. Stop getting yourself worked up. The transplant will be successful, and Jaiyana will be fine once again, In Sha Allah." He assured, squeezing Safna's hands.

"You're right; I'll be back soon." Safna sniffed and quickly left the parlor for her room.

Jaiyana had been discharged two days after the diagnosis and after the attacks had subsided. Though she's on medication and a nurse is hired to stay at the house 24/7 as per El-Kabir's request in case anything happens. The doctor said she had to be on certain medications before the transplant, which will approximately be in three weeks.

El-Kabir followed after Safna, and Jaiyana was left alone. The moment both of them left, she burst into tears, clutching her clothes tightly. Jasmina, who happened to pass by, saw her and quickly went to her before taking her into a hug.

"Stop crying, Ya Jay. You'll be fine, In Sha Allah. We're all here for you. And I promise I'll sacrifice to be your donor. After everything you've done for us, this is the time to repay you." Jasmina said, hugging her sister.

"I'm really not worried about myself, Jass. I'm worried about Mummy. She's so worried that I'm starting to be afraid she'll lose her baby. She's been crying nonstop for the past two days, and I'm sure she's blaming herself for all this. You know, for the circumstances that happened with Baba's death. I don't want her to feel guilty even if I die. Everyone makes mistakes in their lives, and what happened two years ago was also purely a mistake on her side."

"Shhh. Who said you're going to die? You won't die. Not anytime soon, In Sha Allah! You will live to see your grandkids, In Sha Allah, Ya Jay." Jasmina said with tears and hugged her sister tightly.

A cleared throat made them release their embrace, and the nurse smiled apologetically at the sisters.

"I'm sorry for cutting off your moment, but it's time for your medication, Miss Jaiyana." The middle-aged woman said.

"Sure." Jaiyana wiped her tears and stretched out her palms for the medicine. The nurse placed the pills in her hand and handed her a glass of water. She left only after ensuring Jaiyana had swallowed the medicine.

"I think I'll go lie down in my room," Jaiyana said to Jasmina. The latter nodded and helped her to the room.

"If you need anything, I'm one call away," Jasmina said, and Jaiyana nodded with a smile. Jasmina left, closing the door behind her.
