The wind blows my hair strongly. As I walk to school, I see my friend Teruhashi Miki. We've been friends ever since kindergarten. I walked over to Teruhashi. ''Ohayo, Teruhashi.'' I speak.
''Oh, Ohayo Kirui!'' She speaks. She walks away to her other friends as we walk to school.
[AT HIROGASHI MIDDLE SCHOOL]
Our classes are pretty short if you ask me. We had a lot of free time on our hands, so lunch was pretty early.
'' Hey! ''
''Teruhashi?''
''Yes, did you hear?''
''Hear what?''
''About the tsunami! We are going home early because of it!''
My eyes widen. Home early? I think. The bell rings for home. After we leave school, we get umbrellas from the school because the school suspects that it was going to rain. "Saranoya!'' Teruhashi says. But I have a feeling that this is the last time I will see her.
. . .
Okka-San texts me that Oni-Chan and Nee-San are at her house and she's at Nikki Inns.
I text her back as I head to the beach. The rain is pouring down like a waterfall, and I was looking at the beach tides. I notice that the tides are rising higher than usual.
'' I'd better get home '' I murmur to myself.
[10 MINIUTES LATER]
I finally get home. When I open the door, Nee-San is crying, and Oni-Chan looks at me sternly.
