It's officially been two weeks since I've been taken in by the Avengers. Each day gets more silent than the last.
At first, people tried sparking conversation, but I would respond with nothing more than a hum. Then conversation only involved me when it was relevant. Then any attempt of contact with me was seemingly thrown out the window because I gave no further response than "Mhm's," "Mm's," or "Mm-mm's."
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Though today, the Avengers seemed to be particularly out of it. And an eery tension hanging in the air over everyone's heads.
Something about Thor's return from his week long getaway to his homeland, Asgard.
During my time here, he was the only one who truly attempted to carry a conversation. Completely unfazed by my noncommittal responses and even going so far as to say he was used to them. Which I never fully could understand.
Most of my days were spent in the indoor shooting range. Clint, Natasha, and Bucky always watching with their eyebrows raised, but today I chose to sit in the living room. Smushed between two cushions of the sofa sunken into the ground.
"I have arrived!" Thor exclaimed dramatically as the elevator doors opened, revealing him in his full Asgardian leathers.
Everyone gave various forms of greeting to the returned God, each of them replied to with a joyous chuckle and a wave.
"I come bearing a supri-" He turned to look behind him, but stopped short in his tracks and instead simply stared at the empty elevator behind him. "I- Where did you go?" He scratched his head.
I arch my brows when I notice a puff of green smoke across the room, unnoticeable to any normal human. I look over to see a tall raven haired man clad in greens and golds. His pale blue eyes boring into my head from his casual lean against the wall.
Examining the man, i can't help but catch the quite dramatic shackles binding his wrists together.
"Loki! You mustn't leave like that!" Thor exclaimed angrily, clearly upset with the man across the room from him.
Digging into my own head, I vaguely remember Thor telling me of his brother, though he never once mentioned a name that I could recall. Simply saying his brother was a tricky one to manage.
But based on Loki's look of feigned innocence toward Thor, he was the brother. Though they looked nothing alike.
The rest of the team stood shocked at the sight of Loki, Tony being exceptionally wary and taking a few steps away from the window, coaxing an amused head tilt from Loki.
"Thor, what is he doing here?" Steve asked in his ever so patriotic voice that became ever so annoying to my ears. Usually, it was fine. ...Until he began interrogating, which was quite common in my front.
Thor's smile dropped ever so slightly. "I may have committed treason, causing both me and Loki to be banished back here to Midgard, but I am not complaining. I am now with both my brother and lovely Jane."
I rolled my eyes, catching Loki doing the same before turning to a bookshelf.
Clearly, Loki also had experience with Thor's starstruck rambles about his girlfriend, which means he surely must find them annoying as well.
"Is Frosty here safe?" Tony asked, a smidge of double meaning in his voice.
"I assure you, Man of Iron, my brother here is completely safe," Thor assured, "Though I do feel new bindings are in order."
"He can take one of mine," I say, waving my not so fashionably decorated wrists up to show the power limiters -finally speaking after being questioned for being mute for weeks.
"Bond, you can talk again? But nice try. You can't have either of those off," Tony smirked diving under the counter of the bar and grabbing a handful of peanuts.
I let out a heavy sigh. I had been trying to get these damn power restrictions off of me for days now to no avail. Each measly attempt proving futile. And they were bio-metrically locked, so there was literally no way of me removing them without severing someone's finger.
"I got it..." Bruce pulled out a matching pair of bangle shackle things from his back pocket and handed them to Thor.
"Brother..." Loki's velvet voice rang through the air, pleading with his brother not to restrict his magic.
"Sorry, Loki," Thor said as he swiftly replaced the heavy, unflattering shackles with the power limiters.

A/N - The power limiters will henceforth be called PL's. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Loki growled at Thor as Thor ushered him to sit on the sofa beside me.
I look at him and he looks at me, yet neither of us dare speak a word.
I recall Thor once telling me that I would get along with Loki, and from his tales of their adventures, it sounded convincing. But looking at the man himself made me second guess myself.
He had a slight scar on his forehead, still fresh. And his eyes appeared to have a glow to them. Just by taking a glance, I knew he was a threat. And I knew he would go to lengths to make sure that title still stands.
I, instead, choose to ignore him, but then feel a pressure in the back of my skull. Deep at the base of my neck like someone had a finger there and was choosing to ram it into my head.
I looked over at Loki, who quickly looked away, the pain leaving with his averted gaze.
My eyes narrow as I examine him, taking in every detail. From the way his hair falls over his face to the side, or the way he maintains perfect posture even while on a plush sofa that had no bodily support whatsoever.
Deciding to use a trick I had learned that I still had with the PL's, I tried tapping into his mind. Only to be blocked off by a brick wall not even a few thoughts deep.
Loki slowly turned and stared at me with the same look I had given earlier. He huffs and picks up a book from the coffee table, beginning to read wherever the last reader left off.
Thor's brother was certainly peculiar.
That I had no doubts about.
