Sing Till You Gain Respect

My alarm went off reminding me of my miserable life. I groaned as I went out of my bed and into the shower. I put on my usual comfy pants and a hoodie. I tied my hair up in a messy ponytail and left for school.

Yes I live alone. No I'm not older than eighteen, I'm only fifteen. My parents come home once every few months. They are always on vacation or business trips around the world. Yes my parents are rich yet I work to get my daily meals. Not because my parents want to teach me responsibility or whatever, it's because they don't love me. They were never planning on having kids but I came.

That was my life at home; don't get me started on school.

"Lynn!" I recognized the all too familiar voice. Britney. Yes she was the school's blond bimbo cheerleader. And her boyfriend Drew which was the captain of the football team and my best friend. And the worst part of it all is that I have a crush on him, but he doesn’t know.

"Why are you ignoring me Lynn?" she asked with fake concern.

"Cause I hate clowns. And the amount of makeup you put on is MUCH more than a clown does." I replied.

She got all red and she tried to come up with some sort of comeback "T-that's because you're j- jealous! And you're the weird one because you think you can be a singer. I bet your voice is just as ugly as your body."

"And I bet that your personality is just as fake as your boobs." I replied and went to my locker.

Yes I love to sing. Everyone knows that but they think it’s just a huge dream I can never fulfill. Not even Drew has heard me sing.

“Hey L,” I heard Drew’s familiar voice.

“Hey D,” I replied shortly.

“Not in a good mood today, are we?” he smirked.

“I’m not having a good day.”

“And why is that?” he asked. And then to ruin everything, Britney came.

“Hi Drew,” she giggled and started kissing him like there was no tomorrow.

There was only one word to describe this: DISGUSTING.

“See ya later Drew,” I sighed and walked past them.

As soon as I entered the classroom, all the comments and the teasing began. I wasn’t a nerd, I was just not loved. I could hear people calling me stuff like “weirdo” or “loser” but I try not to let them get to me. I try to act strong in front of everyone but the truth is, these silly words always hurt. Everyone talks about my weird clothes and weird dreams. They think that I wear comfy pants a hoodie because I don’t have a good enough body to wear clothes like sluts. I wish I could just gain their respect.

It was lunch time and I was on my way to the cafeteria when a poster caught my attention. I stopped and read it.
