Bear Necessities: After the Flying Nymphs and their Griffin left the Hearthstone Mountains in Khandaroon, another people took over the valleys for their own uses. These people are known as the Tsingami ... Shifters, or Shapeshifters. One of these decides to make a deal with one of the Sidhe. One of his adventures is memorialized in the song "Ballad of the Bear." A descendant of the Bear appears in the books "Another Day" and "And the Next."
Wannabe Necros: Two men with barely passable magical powers decide they want to join the Necromancer Guild. Their adventurers are just beginning, though, and this leads to their appearances in several other stories and books. "Interview with a Dragon" is their next adventure.
To Be Kimmerian: A tribe of people on the southern edge of the Great Plains of Khandaroon is constantly harassed and killed by other more warlike tribes. They decide to use drugs to grant their warriors the ability to feel no pain or fear in battle. The problem is that this carries over into every other part of their lives.
Ug-Tuk the Nik: A race of Orc-like people that a Power Lord has magically changed to act as his minions live on the outskirts of a giant growth of vegetation that encompasses hundreds of moons in a pocket of the Air Stream called the Evers. This shows some of what people passing by have to deal with. It also introduces the ship that reappears in the story "For Better or Worse."
The Sky Is No Limit: In the story "Trial of the Hunt," Kiki-Rik is in the middle of his trial for adulthood. His father was missing because of something that happened earlier. This story gives a little more backstory of what happened to his father Rik-Rik.
Fido, Down Boy: On the continent of Ankarta, Humans have finally taken back most of the outer fringes of civilization from the Dragons that live in the mountains of the central part of the continent. They use the old stone quarries (correys) to house and raise another type of great reptile. Another story tie-in happens to be the stones they get at the end of this story, which is why Duncan and Lilly go to the Half-Man Tower complex in the story "The Oubliette of Ak Min Tor."
Days of Mist: On the continent of Nataria, the people face a constant threat from the people from the continent to their south. It's only a matter of time before they are in an all-out war. Drastic measures must be taken, and Nataria is shut off from the rest of the world by a Power Lord named Calcian and the Priests who work for the people who live there. Another story tie-in is Calcian's cameo in the story "Battle for Lee-Int." We also see the knives of the guardian of the King ... which appear again in the book "The Legacy of Gildreath."
Musings of a Student in Tir-Na-Nog: Trininnon wasn't always the Shade of Tir-Na-Nog. This shows some of his earlier days as an aspiring Mage at the college in the sky.
Ben, Son of Bene: A couple of new characters emerge in this story, with Ben and Kat, brother and sister, in the continent of Ankarta. Violence is a big part of life on the fringes of these lands, and the two have to come to grips with how it impacts their lives. Another story tie-in is "Of Kat and Shadow," when we find out where Kat's faithful dog comes from.
Jasamti: In the group of islands south of the continent of Khandaroon, the waters are rife with Pirates and Slavers. A young boy of a tribe of Kerr (Kerrmestafal Dakuna Dak-Nuku) is wiped out by aggressive and sadistic Pirates. Jasamti is the boy, and he uses his power to seek revenge and take things to the next level.
