any other way

Beca's POV:

Chloe sighed as she read the letter in her hand. I put my hand on her shoulder and she looked up at me. "I failed. Again." The redhead huffed.

I laughed softly and pulled her in for a hug. "It's okay. I'm still proud! You tried your best."

She rolled her eyes and giggled. "Oh, come on. Don't pretend you weren't praying on my downfall." Chloe smiled. I kissed her cheek gently and shrugged. "Well...atleast you get to stay with me for another year!" I grinned.

Chloe kissed my lips softly and nodded, resting her head against mine. "That's always a bonus. I can't wait to see Bree's face when I tell her I'm stuck here for yet another year."

Almost on cue, Aubrey hurried through the door with her suitcase, taking her sunglasses off and practically throwing them at the table in the hallway. "Chloe! Chlo- Oh, there you are. So? How'd the russian lit test go?" She probed, almost instantly grabbing Chloe's test results.

The blonde's face fell as she read the paper. She tutted softly and shook her head. "Honestly, Chlo, it's almost like you're intentionally failing."

Chloe looked slightly hurt, but she simply smiled and nodded. "I know, but I am trying."

"Hm..I find that rather hard to believe, Chloe." Aubrey sighed, handing the paper back and turning to me. "Well? What have you got to say for yourself then, Beca?"

She really reminds me of my step-mom, sometimes..

I put my arm around Chloe's waist, resting my hand on her hip. "Not too much. You? Surely you have an interesting story from the lodge?"

Aubrey smiled and clapped her hands together. "You bet! Gosh, there was this really irritating guy who was almost drooling over me, constantly trying to get in my pants no matter how much I told him I have a girlfriend."

I gasped, my eyes widening. "Oo! Did you put him in his place?" Chloe asked.

"Oh, no, I didn't have to. First, he got caught up in a trap and fell from it, almost like you Beca." She continued. I groaned and rolled my eyes. "No need to remind me..."

Aubrey smirked before carrying on with her story. "And that wasn't the worst of it. His canoe capsized, leading to the poor man almost drowning in our lake. But, even after all he'd been through, his wife turned up and gave him a royal telling-off when she caught him with his hand on my thigh! Gosh, it was an eventful few days."

Chloe frowned. "You really don't sound bothered about his hand being on your thigh?"

Aubrey shrugged and smiled. "It's not that big a deal, really. I'm not bothered by it. Anyways, I believe Stacie is upstairs, so off I go!"

I laughed and kissed Chloe again. "I'll never understand what attracts Stacie to Aubrey so much."

------

"No way! That's fucking crazy!" Cynthia grinned as Aubrey retold her story over dinner. Stacie was basically hanging off her arm, not willing to let go. Chloe and I kept glancing at eachother, making us laugh and confusing the other girls.

I rested my hand on Chloe's knee as we ate. She was barely picking at her meal, but she said she ate earlier.

Stacie looked at us both, mainly focused on Chloe. "Uh, Chlo," she began, clearing her throat and smiling awkwardly. "You're okay with staying here another year? I mean, you can easily just drop out. You don't have to speak Russian to be a vet." She laughed nervously.

Chloe shrugged and looked at me. "I'm fine with it. I get to live with my girl another year, and I wouldn't have it any other way." She grinned. I could feel myself blushing.
