(Y/n's POV)
I hugged her tightly out of pure excitement at having a proper job again. I haven't had one of those in at least... thirteen years now? Once my brain caught up with what I had just done I immediately let go of her and take a few steps back, now embarrassed. "S-sorry about that! It's just...Well it's been awhile since I've really had anything remotely stable." I feel my face heating up, 'What the fuck was that?! Why the Hell did I do that?!'.
Carmine regains her composure before responding, "It's alright, just don't make a habit of it." She snaps her fingers and a senor security officer walks in. "This is Sebastian, he will guide you through everything. Also you may want to tell your current client that the contract is terminated. I would like to have you working by tomorrow. After all, you did just hospitalize over half of my security force for this facility."
'Oh yeah, forgot about that for a second. Doesn't matter, it got me a job and no one died.' I slowly pull out my phone to inform the client that I must drop the job. Normally I would never do this, it destroys ones reputation. This client however, was a asshole through and through, also he didn't pay anything up front so whatever.
(Phone Call)
???: Is it done already?
Y/n: About that, I'm afraid I am going to have to drop this job. It has proven above my paygrade and you have been a horrible client for the seven hours we've been working together. Goodbye.
Before I can hang up he says something that stops me in my tracks.
???: Let me guess, that bitch Carmine got her hands on you? That fucking bitch can choke on a sand paper co-
Y/n: SHUT UP IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE! (I take a breath to calm down) She is my boss right now, so a insult to her is a insult to me.
???:...You have never given a damn about someone insulting you before, so don't give me that bullshit. Whatever, enjoy working for that fucker.
With that the call ended. I breath out a sigh before realizing everyone is staring at me because of my outburst. "My apologies, he was a...interesting client." 'Remain professional, you definitely can't afford to lose this job now.' Carmilla just nods and has Sebastian take me to the barracks.
While walking down one of the many hallways, Sebastian asks me a question. "So, what is your real name?" I just look at him like he's dumb, who asks someone in Hell for their real name after said person has already denied everyone else it? "As far as you are concerned it is Vulcan." He just sighs and keeps leading me along until we arrive at the barracks, which are now mostly empty thanks to the fight earlier. 'Looks like I gave the medical wing a busy next few days.'
Sebastian gives me a quick tour of the barracks, showers, training facilities, etc. Eventually he takes his leave and I'm left alone in the empty barracks. "Alone again already." I say to myself. As much as I lack a social battery, I crave some form of companionship. Every time I had someone around me though, they always ended up dead or betraying me for someone else. "Perhaps this time it'll be different."
I start to remove my gear and notice I only have three syringes left. "Damnit! Why do I always make so little at a time? Whatever, I'm security now, I shouldn't need it very often." I then begin to remove my combat armor, starting with me boots. I quickly realize that armor had actually regenerated with me this time, "About fucking time it worked. Guess that means they still haven't really seen more than maybe my burned arms." I notice a mirror on the inside of the wardrobe and admire my armor for a second. I never really cared for fashion, but when it came to this, I tried a bit.

I slowly took it all off and examined myself for any wounds but it looks like the serum kicked in properly. I organize my things before climbing into bed. 'Can't wait for my first day tomorrow. I've always been told that security work is boring, but something about this place intrigues me. I will figure out what it is sooner or later.' I then close my eyes and drift off to sleep, feeling for the first time in a long time that things will work out.
(Third Person POV)
"Well, he seems to be acclimating to here pretty damn well. Especially considering that he was just trying to rob us only hours earlier." Sebastian said standing beside Carmilla as they watched Y/n through their cameras. Carmilla didn't respond, she was focused on Y/n as he slept, 'Why am I so interested in him? He must be hiding something, and I'll figure it out what it is sooner or later.'
A explosion nearby snaps her back to reality as she notices on a different monitor that a group or people had just breached the building. Sebastian goes onto the intercom and starts giving orders to intercept the intruders. Carmilla looks back at the monitor that had been displaying Y/n, only to find that he was nowhere to be seen. "Shit! Vulcan's missing!" More explosions sound throughout the facility, indicating that the intruders were making easy work of her security.
Carmilla and Sebastian rush out of the room and towards the medical ward to ensure that her daughters were safe as they had gone to help with the injured. They approach the doors to the medical wing, only to find them blasted open. Carmilla feels dread coming over her as she rushes into the room, but is shocked by what she sees. Y/n has taken down most of the intruders already, and was making short work of the remaining ones.
As Carmilla approached Y/n finished up with the intruders and turned to look at her. "I decided to start my shift early. Hope that's okay." Carmine simply smiles, "That's okay. Is this all of them?" Before Y/n could answer he was interrupted by two figures rushing pasting him and embracing Carmilla. "Mom! You're okay!" Carmilla hugged Clara and Odette until they calmed down. She turned her attention back to Y/n, who then answered her question. "There were three teams, all have been dealt with. The other security officers have taken the rest into custody already."
Carmine was impressed at his quick work, but something weighed on her mind. "Who sent them? They seem to be a organized group." Y/n begins to look ashamed before responding, "I'm afraid this is my fault, they work for the client that I quit on today. He can be quite the handful apparently." He starts to fidget nervously, as if expecting some kind of punishment, Carmilla notices this. "Don't worry bout it, I was the one who told you to call it off. This is my fault too not just yours."
Y/n looks at her nervously, "So, I still have a job?" Carmilla chuckles, "Of course, you did save my daughters after all." Y/n becomes noticeably more relaxed and happy. "Well then, I'm sure everyone is exhausted after such a eventful day. I know I am! Shall we leave the clean up for tomorrow?" Carmilla nods and everything leaves the room and heads home except for Sebastian and Y/n who would stay in the barracks.
(Y/n POV)
'Well, that was terrifying. Within a few hours of getting a job I nearly lost it. Thankfully Carmine went easy on me.' My mind lingers on the overlord for a few minutes, pondering about her. After a few minutes I snap out of it, 'Why am I thinking so much about her?! She's just my boss, that's it.' I continue to argue with myself as I drift off to sleep.
