The days following Mark's conversation with Jenna were a whirlwind of emotions. With their relationship now defined by honesty and understanding, Mark felt a new sense of clarity about his feelings for Donghyuck. He knew he needed to confess his love and see where it might lead. But as he gathered his courage, a new twist of fate threw his plans into chaos.
It was a sunny afternoon when Mark received a text from Jeno, who seemed unusually cryptic:
Jeno: You should know something. Donghyuck's leaving town.
Mark's heart dropped. He immediately called Jeno, his voice frantic. "What do you mean, he's leaving? Where is he going?"
"He's moving to Busan," Jeno replied, his tone somber. "He thinks it's best for a fresh start, to get away from everything here. His flight is in a few hours."
Mark's mind raced. He couldn't believe it—Donghyuck hadn't mentioned anything about moving. Panic surged through him as he realized he might lose the chance to tell Donghyuck how he felt. Without a second thought, Mark grabbed his keys and rushed out of his apartment, determined to reach the airport before it was too late.
The drive to the airport was a blur of honking horns and flashing traffic lights. Mark's hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his thoughts a chaotic jumble of fear and determination. He couldn't let Donghyuck leave without knowing the truth.
Finally, he arrived at the airport, his heart pounding as he sprinted through the terminal. He scanned the crowd desperately, searching for Donghyuck's familiar face. The loudspeaker announced the boarding call for the flight to Busan, and Mark felt his time slipping away.
He raced to the departure gate, his eyes darting around in a frenzied search. And then, he saw him—Donghyuck, standing in line with his carry-on bag, looking lost in thought. Mark's heart leapt into his throat as he pushed through the crowd, shouting his name.
"Donghyuck! Wait!"
Donghyuck turned, his eyes widening in surprise as he saw Mark running toward him. The other passengers glanced at them curiously, but Mark didn't care. He skidded to a halt in front of Donghyuck, panting and out of breath.
"Mark? What are you doing here?" Donghyuck asked, confusion and concern mingling in his voice.
Mark struggled to catch his breath, his heart racing with adrenaline and emotion. "I... I heard you were leaving. I couldn't let you go without telling you something."
Donghyuck looked at him, his eyes filled with a mixture of emotions. "What is it, Mark?"
Mark took a deep breath, summoning every ounce of courage he had. "Donghyuck, I know this might be crazy, but I can't keep it inside any longer. I have feelings for you. I've had them for a while, and I didn't realize it until recently. I care about you more than I can say, and I can't let you leave without knowing how I feel."
Donghyuck's eyes softened, and he took a step closer to Mark. "Mark, I... I've felt the same way. But I thought it was impossible, with everything that's happened. I thought leaving was the best way to start over."
Mark shook his head, tears welling in his eyes. "You don't have to start over without me. We can figure this out together. Please, don't go."
Donghyuck looked at Mark, his eyes searching his face for sincerity. The boarding call repeated, urging the last passengers to board. Donghyuck's gaze flickered to the gate, then back to Mark.
"Mark," he said softly, his voice trembling. "I want to stay. I want to be with you. But what about everything we've been through? What if it's too complicated?"
Mark reached out and took Donghyuck's hand, holding it tightly. "We'll figure it out, Hyuck. Together. I don't have all the answers, but I know I don't want to lose you. Please, stay."
Donghyuck's eyes filled with tears, and he nodded, a smile breaking through his uncertainty. "Okay, Mark. I'll stay. For us."
Mark pulled Donghyuck into a tight embrace, relief and joy flooding through him. The world around them seemed to fade away as they held each other, united by their shared feelings and the promise of a future together.
As the final boarding call echoed through the terminal, Donghyuck stepped out of the line, leaving behind his ticket and the baggage of his past. With Mark by his side, he felt a renewed sense of hope and possibility.
They walked out of the airport together, hand in hand, ready to face whatever challenges and adventures lay ahead. For the first time in a long while, the future felt bright, and they knew that together, they could conquer anything.
