As I made my way through the expansive open areas, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. Today was the day Leonardo and I would begin planning everything for the event.
"Yes, Mr. Rhodes, thank you for having me." I said, forcing a smile and extending my hand. His grip firm and cool as he shook my hand.
"Shall we begin? There's a lot to discuss."
I nod my head, and we get right into it.We explored the entire place, The venue was stunning, no doubt, but it's sleek modernity posed a challenge for my vintage-inspired collection.
"What are your thoughts on the layout?" Leonardo asked, his tone measured.
I took a deep breath, trying to articulate my concerns without sounding overly critical.
"The venue is impressive, but it's also challenging. I had a very different concept in mind for the show, and now I'll need to adapt it to fit this environment."
"Adapting is part of the process," he replied.
After we discussed the decorations, we walked over to a large table covered in blueprints and sketches.
I spread out my designs, each one a piece of my soul laid bare.My collection was bold, eclectic, and full of darker colours.
"These are the designs I've been working on," I began, pointing to each sketch in turn. "I envision a dynamic runway that complements the energy and uniqueness of each piece."Leonardo studied the sketches with a critical eye.
"Your designs are impressive, Blair, but we need to consider the practical aspects as well. The space needs to be utilized efficiently to ensure everything runs smoothly."
I tilted my head, taking a deep breath to keep my tone light and constructive. "I understand that, Leonardo. But creativity shouldn't be sacrificed for practic-"
Our conversation was interrupted by one of the event coordinators. "Excuse me, Mr Rhodes, Ms. Ames, but there's been a delay with some of the materials. We're going to need to adjust the schedule."
Leonardo frowned, taking a deep sigh, "Thank you for letting me know."
"Blair, I don't have enough patience to argue with you. You either work with me to fix this problem, or I can find another person who fits my expectatios perfectly" He says, irrated.
I would love to punch him in the face right now, but I have to keep my cool. Maybe after we finish the whole event, I could.
"Fine." I reply, "but no modifications to the designs whatsoever."
He nods, and we get to work.
After hours of struggling and arguing even more about the whole thing with the colours and the stage and scenery, we managed to make it work."You're a lovely person, Blair, but you've got an attitude bigger than your height and a mouth that speaks when it shouldn't." He says, offending me.
As if this attitude is what got me in this place anyway, if I didn't follow my dreams, I'd be nowhere right now.
"I'd like to take you out for a coffee, discuss things that could help our partnership." He suggests, his thick tattooed fingers running through his hair.
"Okay, but don't think that we're friends just because we're drinking a coffee." I reply, grabbing my purse.
As Leonardo and I walked out of Spring Studios and onto the bustling streets of Lower Manhattan, the cool evening air did little to cool the simmering tension between us.
We had spent the day clashing over every detail of the gala, and the thought of spending more time together felt both exhausting and oddly electrifying.
Leonardo pulled out a cigarette and offered me one. I hesitated for a moment before accepting it. The truth was, I only smoked occasionally, but right now, I needed something to take the edge off.
He lit my cigarette first, his hand steady as he held the flame to the end. Our fingers brushed slightly, and I felt a jolt run through me. I quickly looked away, inhaling deeply and letting the smoke fill my lungs.
We walked in silence for a few minutes, and the city sounds, creating a backdrop for our thoughts.
Leonardo exhaled a cloud of smoke and glanced over at me. "You know, Blair, I didn't expect you to agree to coffee."I shrugged, focusing on the rhythm of my steps. "I didn't either. But I guess we need to figure out a way to work together without constantly butting heads."He chuckled softly. "True. It's just... we're both passionate about what we do. That's bound to create some sparks."
I blew out a stream of smoke, feeling a mix of frustration and curiosity. "Sparks is one way to put it. It's like every time we talk, we end up in a battle." We both chuckle, reaching the café.
I hate having to drink a coffee with him and smoke with him, but I don't want to have constant fights with him.
Tonight was alright. I'm sleeping better, definitely. He's still a jackass but I'm not letting him see that. I need to be in his good graces.
"Here's my number. If anything changes or happens, let me know." He says, giving me his phone number.
We arrive back at Spring Studio, say goodbye to each other, and I head back home, driving off.
I can't wait to talk to Karissa tomorrow, we're meeting at the café.
She somehow convinced the deans office to let her sleep over a few nights ago. She's studying psychology, so it's expected for her to use her "skills."I bought some groceries from the store and headed home. Needed to stock my fridge a bit more since it's almost empty.
I lit a candle as I cooked dinner and listened to my favourite songs, taking a smoke break when I could, I got a text from Karissa as I was setting the table.-
Kari
Kari: I can't wait to see you tomorrow, girl.
We're drinking coffee and definitely brainstorming, and a little therapy session to keep you sane! 🤣Blair: I hate you!
Kari: Love you too, my bee. See you tomorrow. Goodnight!
Blair: night 💋

I love this girl so much. She does keep me sane with her therapy lessons, but I'm going to keep that to myself.
