Tine stared intently at Sarawat, feeling anxiety rise within him. He had no idea that one of the most dangerous men in Bangkok was right behind him. Neither Tine nor his friends were looking back; they were focused on Sarawat and his group.
"Tine, please—"
"Oh, last night you wanted to explain yourself and even chased me to the car, but now you just want me to leave. Well, I'm not going anywhere until I get an explanation and say what I need to say!"
Sarawat's gaze shifted past Tine to Thierry Renault and his men, who were closing in.
"Tine, I don't have time to explain. We're spies, for lack of a better word. A very bad man is heading towards us right now. You and your friends need to get out of here NOW!"
"Spies, huh! Wow, that's worse than a vacuum salesman. Any other lies you want to peddle? Because you're doing really well so far."
Boss and Man groaned, and Sarawat smacked his forehead with the palm of his hand. "I don't know why no one ever believes us." Seeing Thierry Renault and his men getting closer, he quickly grabbed Tine by the forearm, trying to lead him away. Boss and Man did the same with Tine's friends and the rest of the women's group, who found the two gentlemen handsome enough to trust.
"Get your hand off me!"
"For your own safety, I'd advise you not to touch him when he's in a bad mood," Phuak told Sarawat.
"I'm not going anywhere until one of you tells me what the hell is going on!"
"Tine," Sarawat paused for a moment, trying to regain his composure. "I'm not lying to you. I really am a spy. Man dating your brother, believe it or not, is completely coincidental. We were both suspended after our last mission and were told to take a vacation. That's when we both decided to try a dating app." He stopped again, glancing behind them to see how far Thierry Renault and his men were. It appeared they had slowed down, likely considering the attention they might draw if they continued following.
That was a good thing...
"So, our relationship is—"
Hearing this, Sarawat hastened to add, "All of that is real. Everything I've shown you is real."
"Wat, let's go!" Man hissed, urging the women's group and Tine's friends forward in a rush.
Only then did Tine start to pay attention. "Wait, where are we going?"
As they turned the corner near the mall exit, Thierry Renault's men appeared from all sides, cornering them. It didn't take a genius for Sarawat, Man, and Boss to realize these people were armed. Thierry Renault stepped forward, revealing himself in front of Tine.
"Uncle T?" Tine asked, puzzled to see Mil's uncle with a bunch of goons.
But Thierry Renault had his sights set on Sarawat and his friends. He smirked, finally facing the man who had caused him to lose a multi-million-dollar weapons deal. "I told you; I'd find you."
They were surrounded, and Sarawat knew that even the mall security, now approaching, wouldn't be able to help. Thierry Renault raised his gun and fired into the air, causing people to scream. Realizing they were trapped, Sarawat pressed the emergency button on his watch before nodding toward Man and Boss. They slowly raised their hands...
"Let them go," Sarawat said. "It's us you want. Don't hurt innocent people."
Tine's eyes widened in horror as he glanced around. No wonder he had never liked Mil's uncle—he was the bad guy!
"No, no..." Thierry tutted. "That's not how it works, Agent 007," he laughed mockingly. "You don't make the rules here. I DO."
Something was wrong. Sarawat, Man, and Boss quickly realized that the security guards in the mall were also Thierry Renault's men. They didn't seem perturbed by the sudden violence and immediately ushered people to another area of the mall, separating Sarawat's group as if they were VIPs. In fact, they were; the rest of the crowd was just collateral damage.
