Days passed, and Y/N found herself slowly integrating into the pack. She had gotten close to many of the members, having meals together, going on patrols, and even starting to learn the intricacies of pack hierarchy and dynamics. But, there were two people she was still uncomfortable around: Haku Shota, the pack's head alpha, and Keeho, the alpha who had first brought her to the pack.
While she had gained Keeho's trust to some extent, she still found herself wary around the two alphas.
While Keeho had somewhat softened in his attitude towards her, going so far as to joke with her occasionally, he still kept a watchful eye on her, his protective streak making sure she wasn't a threat to the pack.
Haku Shota, on the other hand, remained aloof, his presence authoritative and intimidating. He was always watching, his gaze following her wherever she went. Despite his seemingly relaxed demeanor, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that he was always waiting for her to slip up, to show weakness.
The other pack members seemed to respect and defer to the two alphas, their influence and authority unquestionable. Y/N tried her best to mirror this behavior, bowing her head or showing submission when interacting with them, but it felt unnatural to her, going against her independent nature.
As the days passed, she found herself growing closer to the other pack members, especially the omegas. Intak and Jiung were always welcoming and friendly, often inviting her to watch their training or join them for meals. Even Theo, Keeho's mate, had grown fond of her, often seeking her out for conversations.
Yet, Y/N still couldn't shake the feeling that she was the odd one out, the newcomer who was still trying to find her place. She could sense the pack's curiosity and wariness, the way they watched her, waiting to see if she would fit in or not.
And of course, there was the ever-present fact that she was unmated, un-submitted. While some of the younger pack members had taken an interest in her, none had yet to attempt to claim her, possibly put off by her newcomer status and Haku Shota's interest in her.
Despite trying to hide it, she couldn't help the flicker of disappointment that came with the fact that no one had yet tried to court her. But, she quickly squashed that feeling, reminding herself that she didn't need a mate or alpha to be complete or happy.
Y/N felt her thoughts going to her upcoming 18th birthday, a day that marked both a milestone and a source of anxiety for her. It was the day she would legally become an adult, but more importantly, it was the day her presentation would occur, determining her secondary gender.
As an un-presented omega, she didn't have a clear sense of what her future held or who she would become. It was exciting and terrifying all at once.
Yet, despite the excitement and nervousness, there was also a sense of dread. The thought of being claimed by a stranger, an alpha who might not respect her or treat her well, was frightening. But, Y/N pushed those thoughts aside, trying to maintain a positive outlook, focusing on the fact that she was now part of a pack that promised her protection and safety.
She could only hope that her presentation would go smoothly, and that no unwanted suitors would try to claim her against her will. As the days counted down to her birthday, the anticipation and anxiety only grew stronger, her mind racing with possibilities and unknowns.
As she thought about the future, a mixture of fear and determination, she also took comfort in the knowledge that she was surrounded by the pack mates that she had grown close to, each of whom could offer their own unique form of support and guidance.
Y/N believed that she needed to show the pack what she was made of, prove to them that she was strong and capable. She knew the pack still saw her as the newcomer, the outsider, and the un-presented omega.
