The door behind her nudges open, the dark-haired female's eyes peeking up worriedly, only to have the ice melt once realising it was none other than Belle, who frowns, golden heels clicking as she pushes her way further in, locking the bathroom door behind them. The bass thumps violently, making the room hum.
She crouches down, wary that the baby pink frills of her dress don't touch the floor. Her hands reach out, brows furrowing at the sight of Lucrezia, whose eyes brimmed.
"Hi," the general daughter mumbles in an attempt to diffuse her slow breakdown.
She fans her face, tilting her head to the ceiling so her makeup wouldn't get ruined. It is to no avail, a few strays betraying her and falling down her cheek.
She didn't even know why she suddenly felt overcome with emotion like this – she was quite good at holding things back and pushing them to the pits of her mind. It rarely ever happened, but when it did it felt like being slapped with a brick.
Belle smiles gently, coming forward and using the pads of her thumbs to brush away any traitors, taking extra care to not smudge anything under the eyes. Lucrezia's face remains tilted to the ceiling, knowing if she looked at her friend her body would overreact more than it already is.
"What's wrong Lux?"
Belle's voice is soft and gentle, holding the female's hand in her own, watching her carefully. She had seen her friend leave the floor suddenly, but to her knowledge the blonde hadn't stepped out of line with her.
"Nothing," Lucrezia sighs exasperatedly, shaking her head with her hands resting on her temples.
"It's nothing. It's stupid," her voice is low. Belle watches her, caressing her arms, leaning and dabbing away more tears.
"This is so stupid," she breaks into a small laugh at the end, skin flushed, and red. Belle shakes her head.
"It's not stupid," she says firmly. The other girl disagrees, taking a deep breath, collecting herself.
"I have everything-" she begins softly. Belle nods.
"I literally have the whole world," her voice is child-like, hands cupping Belle to show her. They both giggle at the gesture.
"So, I just-I don't-," she blows air, unable to find the words. Belle is patient, fixing the crown of the female's head, flattening any stray strands.
"You don't know why you can't connect with anyone?" Belle helps her out quietly, already knowing for years this was an issue that Lucrezia struggled with.
Though it didn't bother her regularly, it built over time and any supressed pent-up feelings were bound to burst at some point.
"Like-like, I see people all the time together. I see you. I see Ty, I see Pluto and Aurora. All of you guys can do it," pale blue eyes are bright, tears having dried.
"But I just can't. I look at the boys on our campus, or even the boys in this club. And I feel nothing. I physically feel no attraction to any of them, or no desire to pursue or want anything," Belle nods, listening with no judgement.
"But Lux, that's so normal. It just means you haven't-," the freckled female shakes her dead.
"Belle. I feel nothing," the word is emphasised, hands on her chest. It falls quiet for a moment, the club music pounding at the door they hid behind.
"I can't feel like how you guys feel. I have no desire to want anyone that comes my way, even if they have qualities that I might like. My body can't feel the way I want it to. The way you tell me. The way it should," she blinks.
