"Hey, Andrew. I'm on my way to the party right now, you're on speaker."
"Ah, shit! I knew my homeboy would pull through."
"Yeah, I'm kind of bringing a plus one...just meet me out front in about 8 minutes."
"What do you mean party? Like the one Alice told me about?"
"Yeah, don't you wanna go?" Francis responded casually as I followed him to his car.
"Well... I guess so. Are you sure you wanna go?" He didn't seem the social type.
"Yeah, I was invited."
"What? By who?"
"My classmates."
"Do you even go to school?"
"I started Ridgemont on Wednesday."
Two days at school and already invited to a party? What a privilege it must be to be tall and hot.
"Wow, and you haven't got kicked out yet. Well, let's hit the road then!"
He glared at me while I dialed Andrew's number and soon we were on our way.

"Lio! Lio, over here!"
Francis and I turn to see Alice, Evie, and Andrew waving, accompanied by some new friends they made. I headed over to them, Francis unfortunately following behind.
"Hey guys, um, this is Francis. We're family friends." Andrew made eyes at me subtly while the rest of the group introduced themselves. I recognized one of the people as a guy I used to play club soccer with.
"Lio, what's up, how've you been?" Michael came over and dapped me up. "I got some drinks for y'all, hard lemonade in the cooler over there and shots in the kitchen."
"Thanks man, are you hosting?" Francis already was walking over to the kitchen and I saw him get ambushed by a group of people greeting him, some chanting "New guy!". Teenagers really make the worst people popular.
"Nah, it's my buddy's house but I brought a lot of the drinks."
"Um, Lio?" Evie interrupted. "When you told us you had a plus one, you didn't tell us he would be hot." She and Alice started giggling like little girls.
"No, he is horrible. He's been clinging to me all day just to make me miserable." I looked at them very seriously. "You guys need to stay away from him."
The girls were already watching him and snickering, not listening to a word I said.
"What do you mean, Lio? Francis is cool. He just joined our school this week", Michael said.
"He joined your school because he got kicked out of all his old schools. For fighting!"
Andrew and Michael pondered, and said in unison, "That's pretty badass."
Andrew came closer and said in a hushed voice, "Damn it, Evie's been drinking a lot, she's definitely gonna try to flirt with him. And what guy wouldn't say no to that?"
"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he has a girlfriend. Named Clara or something. I think he's just here to drink."
We glance over to the kitchen and see people cheering as he's downing a shot of something.
