One Too Many Times

 Her relationship with Adrien hadn't seemed to pass the honeymoon stage from its early days, even after two years, but now with Gabriel obliging his son to model again and being really sick for some unknown reason, Adrien and Marinette don't have time to be together anymore. The young man had to go back to homeschooling to finish his baccalauréat earlier, so he could head straight to university and do a business degree, so he would be able to take over 'Gabriel' as soon as possible.

Their relationship is now on the rocks and with the pression Gabriel was putting on Adrien, it was only a matter of months before Marinette decides to break things up. The breakup becomes, without them knowing why, a weight for the superhero duo and it becomes harder for them to work together.

Being even more busy than before, Marinette's relationships pay to price. She not able to hang out after school or during weekends, her parents don't taint to believe her, after all the times she disappeared in the last two years.

When she finally gets the missing Miraculous from Gabriel Agreste, at 18, she finds herself an apartment and gets ready to graduate and apply to the best fashion designing programs in Paris.

Dick asks her out, after the last two years dancing around each other, now that she was an adult, he could make a move. They date for about 4 months, before Nightwing is needed in an off-world mission, with Young Justice. Without breaking up, they promised to find each other, when he comes back and to pursuit their relationship. But the mission takes more time than expected and when Marinette finally graduate from her Fashion program at the Université de Paris, two years later, Dick is still not back.

Six months, after her graduation, Marinette attends a monthly JL meeting, she happy to speak to old allies and talk with some of her mentors, Batman and Wonder Woman. Just before the beginning of the meeting, the system calls Nightwing, Starfire and NightStar. Hearing his name, Marinette makes her way to the Zeta tubes, but she stops, when she sees Dick arm around Kor'i's waist and she has a baby in her arms, Marinette freeze and understand with the talking around her that Nightwing and Starfire became a couple, during their mission off-world, got pregnant and married.

Marinette is broken, but goes back to hiding her emotions, just like when the threat of Monarch was still active in Paris. She takes her place and tries to concentrate on what is said during the meeting without success. When everything is over, she tries to leave as fast as possible, but someone grabs her wrist and stops her: Dick.

"I'm so happy to see you! I missed you so much. I'm sorry, if it wasn't for Mar'i, we wouldn't be married and I would have come back to you, but I can't leave my kid... You'll love her, I named her after you, because you're so important to me..."

His words hurt her even more. She doesn't say a word and summoned a portal to her room.

Two months later, she leaves Paris and join Master Su-Han to train with him, to become a better guardian and to be ready to take upon greater responsibilities within the Order.

Her full training takes ruffly three years. Her only contact with the outside world are with the Amazons and John Constantine and Zatanna.

When she's back from the temple, she goes to New York, hoping to get a job with Audrey Bourgeois 'Style Queen' and her way there, she runs into Jason and they exchange numbers, agreeing to meet for dinner later that day.

They catch up and Marinette learns that Kor'i had to leave, about 6 months before, to go back to Tamaran to be the new queen. She left Dick and their daughter in Gotham, and he is heartbroken. Jason tells her she should try and reach out to him, to forgive his brother. She agrees to go to the next Young Justice & Teen Titans get together, that will happened two months from now, and talk to Dick. She gets her hopes up at the idea of seeing her lover again.
