The year is 2009

"And this year's Prom King and Queen are: Zac Mikael and Haylee dela Torre. The floor is now open for the first prom dance!"

Please tell me this isn't happening. I haven't been able to talk to Zac since last year after the incident. Oh this is going to be so awkward.

"Hi Elee," Zac greeted with a cheeky smile on his face.

"I'm surprised you still know my name Zachary."

"Why wouldn't I? Oh, and isn't my name Zac?"

"Oh y-yeah, Zac." I don't know why I stuttered and am shy while I'm saying this as we started dancing in the center of the dancefloor. "Well... you've been so popular it's kind of hard to reach you now you know, you're like the Mr. High School."

"Mr. High School, Prom King, or even Zachary, those are just labels, my name or whatever. I still like being called Zac. Glad we get to talk to each other again, Elee." He leaned forward to my ear and whispered, "I missed you."

As he moved back to give me a twirl, I saw in a small speck of light from the disco lights shine on his face that he shed a tear. I knew right then that he was hurting from the last time we talked. I went back to the waltz stance and leaned forward to tell him,

"I know, Zac. I've missed you too."

We then finished the dance and went to our respective seats.

He went back to sit beside his girlfriend, Aliesha. And I went back to sit beside my bff, Carrie.

We exchanged glances as we took our seats.

That was the moment I realized... I love him.

But... I lost him.

Or so I thought.
