________________A week later..
"I haven't seen you smile this hard in a while" "I don't think I've ever seen her really smile" "you'll get used to that. I still remember the time she won the 100m and there still wasn't a smile on her face"
"Shush I got my braces tightened the night before" Sahari lowly explained as she slid on her team sweats over her pros. "And y'all need to stop chatting about me like I'm not in front of y'all" she continued. "Would youse ratha us talk shit behind ya back?" Amara asked putting on her cleats. "Got me there" Sahari mumbled then flinched when they all heard a whistle over the intercom.
They quickly put all of their belongings in their lockers, and Sahari put her cleats around her neck. Then they followed behind the rest of the girls to the track. The trio walked shoulder to shoulder, continuing to lowly talk to each other. Everyone sat in a circle, and watched the coach, and 2 assistant coaches walk up in their winter gear and tablets.
"Good afternoon ladies" "good afternoon coach" "I know y'all can do better than that. I said good afternoon ladies" the teens smiled. "GOOD AFTERNOON COACH" they repeated loudly, well everyone, but Sahari who was wincing from the sudden loudness.
"That's more like it. Now y'all sound like a team that's ready and excited about the 2015 track and field season. As am I, and Coach Ashly, and Trevor. Firstly I wanna again welcome our two freshmen, Lesley and Erin" everyone clapped as the younger girls smiled and blushed. "And our newest addition, our senior, Amara" there was less claps, making Sahari and Amara roll their eyes and shake their heads together.
"The older girls already know this, but we expect the best. You know what you can do, we've watched what you can do. Don't disappoint us" the coach spoke with all seriousness. "Okay everyone stand up and spread out. We're going to start our stretches, and we'll have the captain Alison lead them today"
....
Sleep was the only thing on Sahari's mind as she exhaustedly, and sorely walked out of the school building and to her car. When she was opening her door, she heard two sets of footsteps and laughing. "Hari don't tell me you're going home already? Come join us, we're getting smoothies to celebrate getting through the first practice" Celeste asked her.
"Are you sure?" Sahari asked, her and Celeste only hung out during school and track hours. Her and Amara have never hung out, and only train together.
"Girl yes, we can tell Mara all about our rivals" Celeste excitedly suggested. "Hmm I would love to know about who we're going to beat" Amara made known, talking to both of them but her eyes focused on Celeste.
'Mara? Hmm they've gotten closer' Sahari thought, eyeing the two girls across from her who hadn't left each other's sides since they all met up in the locker room.
Sahari's thoughts started going elsewhere and she quickly stopped them. 'Sahari everyone isn't like that. Don't be a weirdo' she thought and sighed. Then she nodded "I'll follow you" she told Celeste, and Sahari watched as the duo walked to Celeste's car, whispering and giggling to each other.

Home 📍
Sahari slightly pouted when she noticed Jayla's car wasn't in the drive way as she pulled in. She grabbed her backpack and track bag, and went inside the house, before she even got fully into the house Juno jogged up to her and immediately started asking questions.
