It's been a few weeks since Caitlin and Lia had broken up and Caitlin had barely been able to move from her bed after moving out of their house and in with her good friend Jordan.
Caitlin was lying in bed feeling guilty and ashamed. Guilty that she didn't fight harder to save her relationship with the Swiss woman, but more ashamed for falling in love with her best friend, Katie McCabe.
She was actively trying to limit her time with her best friend to not only protect herself but protect her best friend's relationship. She would still hang around the Irish girl like normal at training but would limit there time together outside of training and one on one.
Caitlin was zoned out, once again thinking of her Irish friend. Thinking about how she sees Katie's face on everyone she she's and how she's everywhere and nowhere all at once.
She couldn't help but wonder what it would be like and feel like to be loved by Katie. All she could think was 'what do people like me have to do to feel a thing'. Her heart was so broken, not only was she going through a breakup but she was in love with someone who didn't love her back.
Some days after being around Katie, Caitlin was completely drained. She can't believe she's got a lifetime left ahead of her to live when it feels like she's given everything that she's got to give. Acting as if she wasn't madly in love with her best friend was exhausting.
A few days later, Katie showed up at Caitlin and Jordan's door. Whilst it wasn't uncommon for the Irish girl to do this, Jordan could tell something was wrong.
Katie's face was puffy and her eyes were all red and bloodshot, almost as if she'd been up the whole night crying.
Katie gave Jordan a quick hug and said hello before rushing off to Caitlin's room. Knowing exactly who she wanted and needed to see and be comforted by.
To her surprise when she flung open the door, Caitlin's face was just as puffy and her eyes just as red and bloodshot. Caitlin quickly brushed off all of Katie's questions and instead shifted the focus back to Katie and learning about Katie's breakup.
Caitlin had such mixed emotions about Katie's breakup. Obviously she was so sad for Katie but when she heard the news, her breath caught in her throat and she started to think if this meant that one day in the future she could try to shoot her shot. Caitlin immediately engulfed Katie in a tight hug, with both girls feeling the electricity.
Katie ended up spending the whole day with Caitlin and fell asleep in her arms. Whilst Caitlin was loving it, she was also struggling. Spending this much time with Katie and in such close proximity was so hard for the Aussie. Little did Cait know though, that Katie felt the same and her feelings for Caitlin were part of the reason for her and Ruesha breaking up.
Jordan stuck her head in on her way to bed and gave her friend a knowing and empathetic smile, knowing how much the Aussie loved Katie and how she must be feeling in this situation.
After a few weeks of being inseparable and spending almost every waking second together
Telling each other and everyone else they were spending so much time together to support and comfort their friend through their breakup, but both secretly not wanting to leave the other.
One day when they were hanging out, Caitlin finally developed the courage to say something to Katie about her feelings.
"Katie, as far as I'm aware you hung the stars in the sky. And I would've stayed in your arms through the morning every night"
"How much longer will I miss you? How much darker in my head?"
"I feel like without you in my life, I'm going through the motions of a motionless life" " chasing the illusion of you in my head becomes a dangerous round"
"All I want, is to be loved by you"
Hearing this was all it took for Katie to crash her lips to Caitlin's. It was a sweet but passionate kiss
When they broke away, Katie rested their foreheads together and tucked a piece of hair behind the Aussie ear.
"Sometimes I forget how clueless you are Cait. I already adore you and so entranced by you. Any time you look at me I forget all my worries and I just wish we could spend forever in each others arms"
