Katie and Caitlin had only been together a few weeks. One day when they woke up Caitlin was being short with Katie. Katie didn't think much of it, instead thought that the Aussie was just tired and needed more time to wake up.
They quickly got ready for training and then spent the day at Arsenal. Caitlin didn't really perk up throughout training and was quite the whole drive home. When they got back to Katie's, she finally asked her Aussie girlfriend what was wrong.
Instantly Caitlin broke down in sobs. Being best friends for a while, Katie had seen Caitlin cry before but never like this. Katie was taken back and didn't really know what to do. With shaking hands, she ran them down the Aussies spine trying her best to comfort her.
Katie was able to usher the Aussie to the couch and pulled her to her chest and eventually her sobs settled. Cait put her head in her hands and was so embarrassed for breaking down the way she did.
Katie was finally able to coax out of her what was wrong. The Aussie admitted to being so homesick and missing her family and most importantly Peach. She also admitted she was feeling slightly abandoned by Maccas move to the NWSL. No matter how long she lived away from home, it never got easier, and when her chosen family left she struggled even more.
As she admitted this, a few more tears escaped her eyes. Katie was quick to wipe them away and gentle kiss where they landed on her cheeks. Katie whispered "don't cry. Know that I need you in my life. I'm not going anywhere my love".
"When you get tired of this town let me know and we can go somewhere brand new. You want to move back to Australia when you retire? Well okay, it's definitely a conversation I'd be willing to have".
Caitlin wasn't sure how she got so lucky to have someone as loving and tender as Katie in her life.
As they headed off to sleep that night, the last thing Cait heard was Katie whispering "when you wake I'll be right there baby. I'm not going anywhere".
Katie listened to Caitlin's breaths finally slow, and when she knew she was asleep she whispered "when morning comes, I'll always be creeping into your arms. Just hold me close to your flesh. I'm not going anywhere". "Cause when I lay my head to rest I hope that it's always next to you"
And with that Katie followed suit and drifted off to sleep, with the most important person to her wrapped in her arms and asleep on her chest.
