Chapter 5: Dealing With The Killer

(a/n: Zach's POV before he met Kira.)

I'm here in my secret office at our Nexus Brotherhood hideout. I'm busy signing papers for the upcoming transactions involving high-class drugs from our company. Yeah, we do illegal things, and unfortunately, I'm the one handling it. I'm also in charge of this fraternity that my father built back in 1998. Now, he's passed this brotherhood on to me. So, I'm now the commander. They're busy handling our other businesses. Dad is managing our casinos, and Mom is taking care of our boutique business.

"Seems like our commander has no time to rest, huh."

I looked up towards the door when I heard someone speak. I saw Jace standing there with his hand in his pocket.

Jace has been one of my best friends since I was a kid. He's already like a brother to me, aside from also being part of the Nexus Brotherhood. He already knows everything here and the secret image we've been protecting since then. He's a true friend of mine, and I must say, I can confidently say that he will never betray us.

"yeah, need to sign this papers for the transaction." I said and I continue signing the papers.

"Ow, kailan nga ulit 'yun?" he asked.

"July 28." I answered.

Nagpatuloy ako sa pag sign ng papers ng biglang naisip ko 'yung inutos ko sa kaniya kanina. I stopped signing the papers and looked at him again.

"Uhm, so how's this maid?" I asked.

Bigla siyang napatingin sa akin at napakunot ang noo ko dahil bigla itong tumawa. Anong tinawatawa nito?

"Bro, you're not gonna believe this. Hahaha!" he said and sit at the chair in front of my table.

"What?"

he looks at me and smile, " She's interesting, bro. She's talkative, suplada and.."

"and?" waiting for the next word he will say.

"Pretty." and he even winked.

It was Jace who I asked to pick up our new maid because the driver wasn't available—I had given him another task, and it couldn't be me since I'm busier, and that's not my thing, picking up someone I don't even know. Well, I know her based on her résumé that she submitted online. I forgot her name, ah! Right, Rae? Yes, Rae. Yeah, Jace was right, she's pretty because I've already seen her picture. Honestly, she seems familiar, and that’s when I realized she’s the girl I bumped into at the mall parking lot. I even recognized her scent—vanilla perfume.

Cut the crap! I already gave her a lot of compliments. She's just nobody and she don't know me. YET.

"and so? I don't care about her Jace. She's just a maid and I'm the one paying her. If you said that she's stubborn then she better drop down that kind of attitude or find another job." I said.

I heard him chuckle, "Nah, bro. Let's see. Mukhang ikaw ata ang macha-challenge sa kaniya. Sa itsura pa lang, alam mong hindi siya nagpapatalo." he said.

Ganiyan na ba katapang 'yang babaeng 'yan? Baka kapag nalaman niya kung ano ang pinanggagawa ko ay baka mag back out kaagad. Tss.
