The first light of morning filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the hallway as Gabriella skipped down from her room, her footsteps light and carefree.
She was in high spirits, the remnants of her vivid dreams still dancing in her mind. She rounded the corner into the living room, where John B was hunched over a table, wrestling with what looked like a pancake that had seen better days. The once-fluffy breakfast item was now a sad, stale relic, its edges slightly crisped and discolored.
Gabriella couldn't help but laugh at the sight. "You enjoying that stale, almost moldy pancake?" she teased, her voice laced with sarcasm.
John B looked up, his face breaking into a sheepish grin as he tried to swallow a bite. He spat out the mouthful, shaking his head. "Yeah, totally. Best pancake ever," he said with exaggerated enthusiasm, tossing the half-eaten pancake into the trash.
As he stood up, Gabriella poured herself a glass of water from the kitchen sink. John B watched her, his eyes bright with anticipation. "So, are you ready to come out and see the coordinates of the Royal Merchant?" he asked, his excitement barely contained.
Gabriella froze for a moment, her mind racing as she recalled her own plans for the day. She had intended to get a generator and restock the food supplies, a small gesture that she knows will lighten everyone's mood. She forced a smile, masking her inner conflict. "Actually, I'm quite tired," she said, hoping her excuse would be convincing. "I think I'm sunburned too, so I'm gonna rest it off."
John B's face softened, and he nodded understandingly. "Okay, by the way, I got some sunburn lotion, sunshine. Help yourself," he said with a warm smile as he gathered his things and prepared to leave.
Gabriella watched him go, her mind already shifting gears. Once he was out of sight, she pulled out her phone, her fingers moving quickly over the screen as she typed a message to Sarah.
gabriella

i need a small favour :)She hit send and waited, hoping Sarah would respond soon. As she leaned against the kitchen counter, she glanced at the sunburn lotion on the counter and sighed. Her phone buzzed.
sarah
i'm free.
ill be at the chateau in 20 mins.Habriella stood in front of her closet, scanning through her clothes with a purposeful eye. The morning sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on her yellow tube top and shorts hanging on the rack. She pulled them out. The tube top was a simple, snug fit, with a slight stretch that hugged her figure comfortably. The shorts were a light denim, slightly distressed, with frayed edges that added a touch of casual chic.
Slipping into the outfit, she admired the way it brightened up her look, a cheerful burst of color against the otherwise subdued morning. She paired the ensemble with her yellow Adidas trainers, their bright yellow colour with blue stripes on the side matched perfectly with her outfit.
As she adjusted the fit of her top and checked herself in the mirror, she heard the unmistakable beep of Sarah's car outside. Grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder, Gabriella headed out of the house. Sarah was already waiting in the driver's seat, her car's engine running smoothly.
