The days had been filled with preparation and anticipation, but today was different. Today, she found herself walking along the Keep's gardens with Queen Alicent, Aemond's mother. The gardens were in full bloom, vibrant colors and fragrant scents surrounding them as they strolled.

"Elaenys"

Queen Alicent began, her voice gentle but firm.

"I wanted to speak with you about your engagement to my son, Aemond."

Elaenys nodded, her violet eyes looking over at Alicent as she replied.

"Of course."

Alicent paused, looking at a cluster of blooming roses before turning her gaze back to Elaenys.

"I know this engagement was arranged, but I'm sure you understand how important this is to our family. Aemond speaks highly of you, and now I can see why."

Elaenys felt a warmth spread through her at the Queen's words.

"Thank you, your grace. I understand the significance, and I assure you, I am committed to making this union a strong one."

The Queen smiled, a hint of relief in her eyes.

"That is good to hear. With the reunion coming up, it is even more crucial. Your father, Daemon, along with Rhaenyra and her sons, will be arriving from Dragonstone. Their presence will bring both support and scrutiny."

Elaenys nodded, understanding the weight of the situation.

"I am prepared for whatever may come. I know this reunion will not be without its challenges, but I am ready."

Alicent reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Elaenys's arm.

"I have no doubt."

They continued their walk, the conversation shifting to lighter topics, but the weight of the upcoming reunion lingered in Elaenys's mind. She knew that the days ahead would be pivotal, not just for her engagement but for the future of their family.

Queen Alicent excused herself, and as Elaenys kept walking around the gardens the vibrant colors and sweet scents of the flowers seemed to fade into the background as her thoughts turned to her father's impending arrival. A mixture of emotions swirled within her—excitement, anxiety, and a touch of trepidation.

She hadn't seen her father, Daemon, in what felt like an eternity. Memories of their time together on Dragonstone flooded her mind—his fierce pride, his unwavering support, and the lessons he had imparted. Yet, she also remembered the weight of his expectations and the complex dynamics of their family. The reunion would undoubtedly stir old tensions and bring new challenges.

Elaenys took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She knew that her father's arrival would mark a significant moment, not just for her but for everyone at the Keep. His presence, along with Rhaenyra and her sons, would draw attention and scrutiny. The political landscape was already delicate, and this reunion would only intensify matters.

As Elaenys made her way back to her quarters, the evening air grew cooler, and the shadows lengthened across the path. Lost in her thoughts, she almost didn't notice Aemond until she was nearly upon him. He stood tall and composed, his silver hair catching the moonlight, creating an almost ethereal glow.

"Ela"

he greeted her, his voice soft yet firm. There was a hint of concern in his eye as he looked at her.

"Aemond"

she replied, slightly startled but quickly regaining her composure. She had grown accustomed to his presence, yet there was always something about him that set her heart racing.

"I was just returning to my quarters"

she explained, though she sensed he already knew. His perceptive nature often made her feel as if he could read her thoughts.

"May I walk with you?"

he asked, his tone leaving little room for refusal but still polite. She nodded, and they began to walk together in silence for a few moments.

The quiet between them was comfortable, filled with unspoken understanding. As they neared her quarters, Aemond finally spoke again.

"I know your father is arriving soon. If you need anything, I'm here for you"

Elaenys felt a warmth spread through her at his words.

"Thank you."

She smiled up at him, grateful for his support.

They reached her door, and she paused, turning to face him.

"Goodnight, Aemond."

"Goodnight, Ela."

he replied, his eye lingering on her for a moment longer before he softly wrapped his long arms around her petite figure for a few moments, and after walked away towards his own quarters.
