Daemon, Rhaenyra, and her bastard sons had returned to Dragonstone after what had happened in the throne room. The family was divided, as it had been for the past 14 years.

Meanwhile in King's Landing, Aemond and Elaenys rested in their quarters, a knock came at their door. Aemond called out, and his mother walked in with a worried look on her face and tears beginning to form in her eyes.

"Aemond, Elaenys"

Alicent said with a trembling voice.

"There is something you need to know"

She sat down beside them, her gaze shifting between them.

"Viserys.... the King.... has passed away."

Aemond's face went pale, and Elaenys gasped, her eyes widening with shock.

"What? When did this happen?"

Aemond demanded, his voice slightly shaky.

"Just a few hours ago"

Alicent replied, her tears now flowing freely.

"He went peacefully in his sleep, but now... now everything changes."

Elaenys took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.

Alicent wiped her tears and stood tall, her resolve hardening.

"We must gather our allies and prepare for the coming storm, we will not let Rhaenyra take what's rightfully yours— your father... he, he spoke to me before he passed, and he has named you his new heir, Aemond."

Aemond's eyes widened as he absorbed his mother's words.

"He named me his new heir?"

he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. The weight of the revelation pressed heavily on him, knowing the turmoil it would unleash.

Alicent nodded solemnly, her eyes filled with both pride and concern.

"Yes, Aemond."

Aemond's mind raced, the implications of this decision crashing over him.

"But Rhaenyra.... she was his heir for so long. This will cause a war."

The prospect of war loomed large, but Elaenys knew that for Aemond, this was more than just a battle—it was a chance to seek the revenge he had longed for since the tragic events of years past. She could see the fire in his eyes, the suppressed rage that had been simmering beneath the surface.

"To war then."

She reached out, taking Aemond's hand in hers, her voice firm and her face betraying no emotion.

Aemond had always found the fact that Elaenys could go from zero to a hundred so alluring. Her fierce determination and unwavering resolve were qualities that had drawn him to her from the very beginning. She was a force to be reckoned with, and the Gods knew that if war was coming, she was going to give hell.

As he looked into her eyes, he saw the fire that burned within her. Elaenys was not one to back down from a challenge, and the brewing conflict only seemed to ignite her spirit further. She was ready to fight, to stand by his side, and to protect their family at all costs.

Aemond couldn't help but admire her strength. He knew that with Elaenys by his side, they could face whatever came their way. She was his equal in every sense, and together, they would confront the storm that was about to break.
