Being part of the swarm was not always fun, but the young bee made do with what she had. Her world was one of wonder. Well, had been. Now, her people had adapted to living in the underground caves where the flora now grew, escaping the raging storms above ground. Stories were still told of a great ball of fire illuminating the sky with its light and warmth.

The swarm family had made their home in the hollow of a tree that grew in an oasis in a deep cave. It would be cold had it not been for the hot springs that ran in the complex canal system near the cave. That's where the giants settled: a swarm of bees much bigger than them that didn't fly nor have six legs. The young bee thought that they were most odd with their dull colors and quiet world. They were so big that one time she saw a footprint destroying what could have been a week's worth of food, flowers stepped on with such disregard it annoyed her.

The giants lived in strange hives made out of dead bees, a type that also had four legs and were fuzzy and brown. The world had millions of types of bees. Although, when the storms began many cycles ago, most were gone. But the young bee's swarm family had survived and for that she was glad. They'd found their home and tree and they could live peacefully in this dark world.

She was flying so carelessly, thinking about all the flowers she would meet that day, that she suddenly found herself trapped in some sort of net. One of those giants stared at her from the other side of the net, frowned and let her go, shaking the trap with such force it threw the young bee off course. She felt... lost. It was a strange feeling.

Confused, she tried to find her way back, buzzing fiercely. That only made other nearby giants to wave their hands frantically and confuse her more. She slammed against something hard and her antennae bent. Exhausted, she held on to this strange surface and began to explore it. She finally found a fissure, a hole made of a completely different material. It was cold to the touch, metallic, perhaps. She slipped inside and she was in a whole new world. It must have been a door to another place. Smells filled the place: thousands of flowers waiting to be visited by her sisters. She... she had found paradise!
