Violet
The next day
I perch on the edge of the bed, my eyes fixed on Lucian. He's at his desk, deeply engrossed in his paperwork. My body still aches from last night, and I trail my hand over my shoulder, massaging the soreness in my back.
Despite the silence, I can sense the lingering intensity still crackling between us. It's like an electric current, invisible but undeniable.
I clear my throat softly, breaking the silence."Don't think I've let you off the hook, Violet,"
There's a note of vulnerability there, hidden beneath the stern exterior. I swallow hard, taking slow steps toward him.
"I truly don't understand, Lucian. There's nothing going on with Silas,"
When he finally looks up, his gaze locks onto mine with a penetrating gaze. The intensity in his stare makes it hard to breathe. It's as if he's looking into my very soul, searching for answers.
"Enlighten me, darling," he demands. There's a challenge in his eyes, daring me to lie to him.
I meet his gaze, trying to mask the fear creeping into my expression. My mind races, searching for the right words, but they elude me.
"Was he the one you were hiding in that room?" he asks, his words slicing through the air like a knife.
For a moment, my breath catches in my throat.
His accusation leaves me paralyzed, completely at a loss for words. The weight of his suspicion bears down on me, crushing me under its intensity."My affairs are none of your concern—"
"So you admit it's true?" he interrupts sharply, rising so quickly that his chair skids backward with a harsh scrape.
The sudden movement startles me, and I take a step back.
"No, Lucian," I retort, my voice firm and unwavering, cutting through the tense atmosphere. "It wasn't Silas, and frankly, it's none of your business."
Lucian leans back against the desk, his hand dragging slowly over his face as though trying to wipe away his disbelief.
"I see what this is now," he murmurs, his voice laced with frustration and realization. His eyes narrow, glinting with a smug satisfaction.
"You're trying to make me jealous—"
I cross my arms, my heart pounding in my chest, a defiant scoff escaping my lips. "I don't care who you fuck, Lucian. If you think I'm trying to make you jealous, you are sorely mistaken."
I don't know if he's referring to that bitch but the thought of comparing myself to someone else, someone lesser, is laughable. I would never degrade myself in such a manner.
His smirk fades, replaced by an intense, almost predatory gaze. The playful glint in his eyes vanishes, leaving behind a dark void that makes my pulse quicken.
"You always think the world revolves around you, don't you?" I begin, my voice trembling slightly with the rush of adrenaline. "Well, it doesn't."
Lucian's expression hardens, his eyes never leaving mine as he steps closer. I can feel the heat radiating from his body as he closes the gap, until I'm pressed against the edge of his desk.
His voice drops to a low, chilling whisper, "Do you really think you can outplay me, Violet?"
His hand reaches out, fingers grazing my arm.
"Trust me," he breathes, his lips inches from my ear, "you won't like the consequences."
The intensity in his eyes is overwhelming as he pulls me closer, his grip firm and unyielding.
My breath catches in my throat, the sensation of his body against mine both electrifying and terrifying, yet I can't bring myself to pull away.
