Greetings dear readers, I'm sure many of you have tried seeking solace in the uprising Indie music movement. My article will definitely pick the liberty to critique, as well as justify the commercial success of Indie Music in Indian Audience.

It all started when a close acquaintance around me was jamming on an indie song which generated such query.

Let us establish the definition of indie music. The term "Indie" is an abbreviation of the word "Independent". This genre of music emphasizes independent production of music, thus no expensive or studio level productions to record and distribute the song. We can summarize the indie music, for simplicity's sake, the music made by music hobbyists.

I agree that such summarization does not do justice, but that's a discussion for a later time.

The ambience or impression which indie music renders is a song with minimalist guitar or a ukelele, easy beats and simplified vocals with amateur poetry being packaged as a song.

With new age artists and bands such as Akshath Acharya, Suzoon, Prateek Kuhad, Ritviz, Anuv Jain and When Chai Met Toast, The Yellow Diary, The Local Train as well as some electronic experimentation performed by OAFF follows the sane theme in my opinion, which has been observed to nurture popularity in specifically GenZ (Generation born between 1996 to 2012).

Let us investigate why such music has gained popularity in today's time. In shedding light to this query, I'd humbly ask the reader to take a few seconds to enquire themselves and oneself before proceeding.

In my humble opinion the maximalist style of music production is still valued and celebrated. But minimalism is thoroughly appreciated in music production. GenZ's particularly seems to enjoy the rawness of music without being too learned about octaves and different musical compositions with lyrics, for comprehending you might need to read a few books and dictionaries.

I hope I don't need to resuscitate the emphasis of music, but to charm the dear reader. I quote Pable Picasso

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life"

I take the liberty to tweak and paraphrase it.

"Music washes away all the dirt and scrubs the soul clean of everyday trifles"

And I believe everyone agrees on this sentiment wholeheartedly.

Such a consumerist pattern of minimalism hints at Buddhist Nihilism or Nihilist generation in general (or perhaps soaring studio prices). As internet has given access to better tools as well as Ais to create a decent production of music. Such indie demands establish my prior and original assumption of Nihilist liking.

Any of my opinions do not need to be correct, so a civil conversation is highly esteemed over stereotyping my music taste. It's an interesting topic to research upon,

Never hesitate to share me good playlists. This is supposed to be an opinion piece, and contrary opinions are entertained.
