The Briefing

Hotch Pov
"This afternoon I received a call... asking for our help on a case in New York. Garcia."

"Okay so in New York field office has called us in to look into to recent deaths in the Manhattan area. So far there are 3 victims Ann Winter, Harry Potter and John Franklin. They were all killed with a single gun shot wound to the head and were stabbed in the stomach with a letter carved into there torso. Ann Winter had the letter T carved into her stomach eww. Harry Pottter had the letter H carved into him and John Franklin had the letter E carved right into him.

"THE" Morgan and Rossi said in unison

"So he kills his victims execution style but then feels the need to stab them" Reid stated.

"So the unsub is compelled to stab a letter into the victims to get his message across?" JJ said in more of a question then a statement.

Hotch was the next one to speak up. "This case has a very high urgency level to the bureau and they want it handled quickly. I need everybody's A game for this case. We will discuss more of the case on the jet but we need to get going. Wheels up in ten" the unit chief said in the most serious voice he could gather

After Hotch exited "Hey Baby Girl what's up with Hotch today"

"I honestly have no idea. He just gave me the case file and start the briefing. I guess it must have come straight from Cruz"

"Remember what happened the last time he gave us a case?" Reid said in a bitter voice. The genius was still felling some faint pain in his chest whenever he spoke because of being shot on the last case the team was assigned by Section Chief Cruz.

After a couple seconds of silence Garcia spoke up. "Well boss man seems pretty serious about the case so you my fury friends should get going."

I guess she's right. Lets 'fury friends'" Rossi said earning chuckles from every one in the room.

After every one exited the room they grabbed their bags and headed to airstrip in two cars.

When every one got settled on the jet Hotch was about to start talking.

"Agent Hotchner"

"Agent whats your status in the case"

Hotch swiftly moved to the back of the jet so no one would hear his conversation earning questioning looks from the team.

"What do you mean?" Hotch spoke quickly and quietly

"I gave the case to you one hour ago. Have you generated a accurate preliminary profile yet?"

"No sir we just boarded the jet"

"Agent I suggest you get a move on. I want this case closed so it won't tarnish my record. Do you understand Agent Hotchner?" The man asked angrily.

"Yes sir" And with that the other person hung up quickly.

Hotch walked back to the middle of the jet where the team was.

"Who was that?" Agent Rossi asked.

Thank God for Hotch Garcia decided to appear on a nearby laptop.

"What do you have for us Garcia?"

"Well looking at our victims there are no connections. I mean they all have different places they shop, live, go to church, they even have different electric companies. They could not be more different. Now saying that I did find some similarities with them"

Morgan and Prentiss laughed.

"One is that all the victims were single and had no kids. Two they both lived in apartments. And lastly they were all mid class."

"Garcia that doesn't give us much. Look into cell phone records and credit card purchesas.

"The thing is I already did and there was nothing that stood out. They all called there parents once or twice a week, payed bills on time, every now and then the two male victims would buy some tools and Ann Winter some shoes but that's about it."

"There has to be something more keep looking Garcia"

"Check Check and Checkkers Penny G out"

"Okay so he kills his victims execution style. Maybe there's a personal connection" JJ said.

"Maybe the unsub could be in a psychotic break. How far apart were the killings time wise?" Rossi asked

"July 20th then 8 days after that then five days after that"

"Guys if you match those numbers 20 8 and 4 you get THE in the alphabet" Reid stated

"So the message the unsub is carving into the victims is the most important part of the case to him"

"Yeah but to find out more of the message we need more victims and that could occour 20 days from now or tomorrow we have no idea when the unsub is going to strike next." Morgan said sounding defeated.

"Morgan and Prentiss go to the crime scenes. Me and Rossi will talk to the families and JJ set up at the station and try to keep the press out of it. Reid if you can work on a geographical profile. If not try to work on victimology" Hotch gave his orders and went to sit down and waited for the plane to land. The rest of the team sat and talked for the rest of the flight.
