"You're a pain in my ass and I can barely stand you sometimes. But let me make one thing very clear, Y/n—you're mine."

Five didn't bring up last night the entire way there, which was good. Kind of. I remembered every bit of it.

I wanted to kiss him again.

We walked down the hall of the Academy and stopped by Klaus's room. He didn't look good. He didn't look like his usual bubbly self.

He was shirtless, and looked terrible. Like he's been through hell and back.

"You okay?" Five asked as we walked into the room.

"Yeah. Yeah, just... a long night." Klaus brushed it off.

"More than one from the looks of it." Five said with a small chuckle.

"Yeah."

"I don't remember the dog tags." I spoke

"Yeah, they belonged to a friend." He told me.

"What about the tattoo?" Five asked.

Klaus tried to let out a small snicker. "See, I don't even remember getting it. Told you it was a long night."

He seemed like he was lying.

"You did it, didn't you?" Five said, taking a step towards Klaus.

"Did what?" He asked.

"You know, I can recognize the symptoms, Klaus." Five said.

"Symptoms of what?"

"The jet lag, full body itch, the headache that feels like someone just shoved a box of cotton up your nose and through your brain." Five told him. "You gonna tell me about it?"

"Your pals, when they broke into the house, they took me hostage instead." He said, and I felt bad now. I didn't even notice.

"And in return, you stole their briefcase." Five observed.

"I thought I could pawn it or there would be money in it, and then I opened it..."

"And, the next thing you know, you were where?" Five asked, pacing a bit. "Or, when, I should say."

"What difference does it make?" He asked.

"What diff- okay, how long were you gone?"

"Almost a year." Klaus told us.

"A year?" Me and Five asked in unison.

"Do you know what this means?" Five asked Klaus.

"Yeah, I'm ten months older now."

"No, this isn't any sort of joke, Klaus." Five said. "Hazel and Cha-Cha will do anything they can to get that briefcase back. Where is it now?"

"Gone, I destroyed it." Klaus said casually.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Five asked, obviously getting frustrated now.

"What do you care?" Klaus asked in the same tone.

"What do I care?" Five scoffed. "I needed it, you moron. So I could get back, start over."

He was leaving again?

"Just- just-" Klaus stuttered, getting up and walking towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Five asked.
