the familiar car was parked not so far from their vehicles. it was a classic car, and it looked so out of place. its lime green color seemed to contradict everything around them. it stood out in the dark and sad surroundings, gave a pop of color. it went well with the cherry color of tyler's truck, they complimented each other. his eyes drifted to the familiar yet mysterious woman.
her blonde locks fell over her shoulders in a silky spill. her skin was pale, but that didn't take away from her other features. her eyes were a deep brown, they reminded him of a dirt road. she wasn't exactly short, but she wasn't a giant. a fair 5'8. and with the way she was lifting debris and beams, she had some muscle under that jacket she was wearing. tyler was just shook, standing in silence as he watched her. the way she was helping a lost child find their parents. those damn eyes of hers, so gentle.
" ty! we gotta get helping, man. "
boone broke him from his little trance. tyler bit the inside of his cheek for a minute, still staring at this mystery woman.
" yeah. got it. "
he answered slowly, before he finally started to help. finding lost dogs, helping gather up possessions. helping people made him feel a lot better, like he was making a difference for once. as he finally broke away from the finding things, his eyes wandered. no sign of the woman. but she was walking back to her car.. he couldn't let her leave without at least asking her name.tyler jogged over as she reached the car. her fingers had just gripped the handle as he reached her. she turned around to face him as he called out 'hey'. those pale pink lips of hers, those deep eyes. he couldn't speak.
" yeah? what you want, stranger? "
her voice was smooth as hell, and had a louisiana accent to it. tyler realized how much he was staring in silence.
" sorry, uhm.. i saw you helping these folks and.. wanted to ask your name. i've never really seen you around before. "
he spoke, flashing his charming grin. tyler could flatter even the most cold hearts, it was just in his nature to be like that. he loved to see people smiling, and that's what he did. he made people smile. but her lips didn't quirk up even a bit. they were set in a thin line.
" name's kai. kai lenore. "
she spoke, her eyes drifting over him. he could feel the gaze roving over him.tyler gave a little chuckle.
" kai. how different. i'm tyler. tyler owens. "
kai turned away, opening the door to her car.
" yeah, i've heard of you. "
she spoke slowly, her tone a bit more bitter than before. it wasn't that she disliked him for who he was. she just didn't exactly warm up to strangers to easily. especially cocky strangers like tyler.
" i saw you earlier, watching that tornado. "
he blurted out, before he could think about saying it. she turned back, her hands still holding onto her car door.
" i saw you. i think that your love for tornadoes is great. y'know.. you don't chase them like we do. you just watch. then you help these people around here, and i think that's admirable as hell. "
he continued, letting his tone get a little softer. wow.her eyes looked into his in silence for just a minute. it didn't take too long.
" you wanna come over for a drink when y'all are done? "
the question came as a slight shock to tyler. but he wouldn't deny it, no. she seemed nice enough.
" yeah. i'll uh.. yeah. "
he said with a soft chuckle, nodding. he backed up.
" just gimme one minute. "
he then walked over, finding javi first.
" hey. i'm gonna head out quick, you, kate, and boone can head back with lily, dani, and dex. "
he explained. javi raised an eyebrow, before he glanced back to the car.
" you followin' your mystery girl home, ty? alright. but we'll be back at the motel when you're all done. "
he spoke with a sly little smile. tyler headed back to the truck.
" lead the way, then. "
he spoke out the window as kai got into that car of hers.with a rev of the engine, her car tore on down the road. tyler kept up, following her. he didn't ride the bumper, but he stayed close behind her. the drive wasn't long, but it wasn't exactly short either. after a good twenty minute drive, they came upon a pretty little place. a little farmhouse with a faded red barn right across from it. a decent sized portion of the yard beside the barn was fenced in, and tyler could see a few cows grazing in the grass. flower pots sat on the front porch, giving the white house a pop of color.
" well, welcome to my place. "
kai spoke smoothly, looking around. tyler couldn't help but smile. pretty girl, pretty house.
