Tristan and I picked up his father's van and loaded the tent and food. The van was spacious, and the scent of mint and the outdoors caressed my nose. I inhaled and nostalgia covered my limbs with goosebumps. Tristan and I went on numerous camping trips as children.
Tristan ran into the house, and I entered the van. I lay across the floor, gazing out the back window. The moon was giant; its light was serenely beautiful. I touched the glass; the cool surface caused my fingers to tingle.
Tristan brought out a large cake and entered the van.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
I blew on the glass, wrote my name, and asked "Where's your telescope?"
He smiled, ran into the house, and brought out his telescope and laptop. I climbed to the front and said, "Great minds do think alike."
I saw the cake and laughed. The cake had a picture of Brandy. She had drool on her face, and her eyes looked in every direction. It was the photo I had sent him when Brandy stayed the night two months ago. We had drunk a little too much.
"Are you serious?" I asked, chuckling.
"Yeah," he grinned. "I told her I was getting her back."
"You're doing her so dirty."
"She won't fuck up my hair or car again." He started the van, and I texted Ethan that we were leaving.
I leaned back into the seat and inhaled. The van's smell was an acquired taste. Ethan and Brandy hated the smell, along with other friends; however, Tristan, Kendra, and I loved it. Also, the seat was incredibly soft as well. It was easy to fall asleep.
We sat for a while and Tristan showed no sign of moving.
"What is he doing?" I thought.
I turned to him, and he stared at me, tapping the stirring wheel.
"What?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow, and I squinted, "What?" I looked at the seatbelt. "Are you serious?" I fastened it.
"About time," he said.
"Jack ass" I chuckled.
We drove to Ethan's house. We got there faster than I expected. Since Tristan didn't want to be late, he went the speed limit. Dork.
We gathered the gifts and the cake and entered the house.
"Taylor, Tristan, hey!" Sabrina shouted, running to greet us.
"Sabrina!" I exclaimed.
We hugged, and her raven hair smacked me in the face. She hugged Tristan afterward. All of our old friends from high school had come. It was strange seeing everyone again. Most of us had graduated, while some were still in high school. Jacob, Lucas, Jamal, Carly, and so many others were there. I missed them.
Sabrina shouted to the others, "Tristan's here!"
Sabrina wrapped her arm around me, whispering, "Watch this."
Our friends shouted, "Dick in the booty! Dick in the booty! Dick in the booty!"
My Jaw dropped and Sabrina was laughing hysterically. Tristan nodded his head both annoyed and smiling.
Lucas shouted, "Tristan!"
"Fuck you," Tristan answered, smiling.
"I missed you guys," Sabrina said.
"Fuck you."
"Tristan," she hugged him again, and he returned the hug, smiling.
"Get off of me."
