The car swayed from side to side as the sounds of cracking rumbled beneath. You chose to believe that those weren't bodies. The path in front of you was beginning to clear, only leaving trails of blood and debris behind. Aunt Tina parked the car in front of a small shop that seemed to be unoccupied.

She checked her surroundings before she stepped out of the car, motioning her hand for us to follow. The shop was small and rugged, it clearly hadn't been used for a very long time. You held close to your gun as you quietly stepped inside. Liam clutched to your waist as you maneuvered through the store.

"Why'd we stop here? It just looks like an ordinary shop.." you whispered to your aunt.

"Exactly, we're here for supplies. Your great grandfather used to own this shop, had a small den here with a bunch of doomsday bullshit." she then exchanged glances with uncle Rob, inching for him to move a giant bookcase.

Once they uncovered the den, they grabbed various items such as ammunition, spare knifes, flash grenades, and canned foods. You began to exit the den until a loud thud stopped you in your tracks. The noise continued and sounded as if it were growing closer. You held your gun out in front of you as your family stayed close behind. Inching toward the bookcase, you moved ever so carefully.

Slowly... just a bit more...

You gripped the bookcase and with all your might, shoved it out of the way. To this revealed something you were not expecting.

A cop?

The man held up his hands in defense. He seemed pretty tall and had dirty blonde hair, he wore a blue police outfit and had piercing blue eyes.

"D-don't shoot!" he stammered, clearly in a state of panic. You took a second to look at him to make sure he wasn't infected, then decide to lower your gun.

"Who are you? How'd you find this place?" You firmly pressed him.

He seemed a little taken aback by your hostility. "My name's Leon. Leon Kennedy. And you are?"

You couldn't decide whether or not to trust him, even though he seemed pretty friendly. "Look, me and my family are just passing through. We don't want trouble." You glared into his eyes as you waited for a response.

Leon's eyebrows softened. "Hey listen, I get you're worked up. I was too." he chuckled a little in reassurance.

"What's so funny?" you furrowed your brows slightly. "Do you know anything about what's going on?"

He then fixed his composure. "I can't say I know much... this is my first day on the job actually. Not the kind I was expecting that's for sure..." his tone became much more serious. Slowly backing away, he allowed you all to exit the den. "From what I've gathered, this is the work of Umbrella." he sighed, holding his right arm close.

You felt confused. Apparently so did your family. Aunt Tina raised a brow and decided to chime in: "You mean the company that makes medicine? You're telling me they're the ones responsible for the outbreak?!" her anger quickly rose.

What could this mean? I mean, your mom works for that company. Is it possible that she knew about the outbreak? If so, why did she abandon you and Liam? No... this rookie cop has to be some kind of phony. He's obviously lying.

"Cut the bullshit. I don't believe that for a second." you inched yourself closer to him and reached for your gun. Leon gasped and slowly raised his hands. You could see the fear in his eyes, yet he chooses to stand his ground. Could this guy really be lying?

His breath hitched as he gazed down at you. "I'm telling you the truth. I promise." he narrowed his eyes a little, analyzing your expression.

It was evident that you and your family were, to say the very least, confused. The more you focused on him, the more you began to trust him.

"Fine. I believe you." you took a step back and placed the gun back in its place. Taking a deep breath in, you held your hand out to him. "My name's y/n. This is my aunt Tina, uncle Rob, and my little brother Liam."

Liam still held close to you as he shyly waved to the police officer. To that Leon softly smiled and waved back.

"Nice to meet you all." he grasped your hand and shook it lightly. They were pretty soft, considering the rough situation.

"So, Leon... how'd you find out about the possible association with Umbrella?" you asked in concern.
