She blanked out.

And then, suddenly, she was back.

Her surroundings spun in a disorienting blur, transforming the once-familiar environment into something distorted and alien. She clutched at her chest, struggling to steady her breathing, but each inhalation felt shallow and insufficient, as if she couldn't draw in enough air. Her vision wavered, the edges of her sight darkening, teetering on the brink of unconsciousness.

All she could recall was... nothing.

It was as if the buzz of an active radio had gone static, her mind slipping in and out of consciousness. Her eyes shifted, and she saw Ken—or was it Ultraman? Her thoughts scrambled to piece together fragments of reality.

Dr. Onda and his drones... the Eiffel Tower...

Her hands trembled uncontrollably, cold sweat forming on her neck. Dizziness crashed over her, threatening to unsteady her on her feet. How had she gotten off the Eiffel Tower? Wait... she remembered jumping off.

Then what?

Ken had caught her, and now they were rushing. But why?

Her mind went blank, unable to answer. Then, as if hit by a bus, the realization crashed down on her—Emi had fallen and was hurt.

Her chest tightened, an invisible vice constricting her ribcage. Her vision blurred at the edges, the world narrowing into a tunnel as she struggled to focus. Her imagination ran wild, envisioning the worst possible outcomes.

The sickening snap of Emi's arm... What if it had been her neck?

"Dr. Amari, your heart rate is spiking," Mari's voice cut through the chaos, but it was nearly drowned out by the rushing wind.

"Mina, she's hurt! Prep the base—" Ken's frantic voice pierced through the noise.

Ken...

She was supposed to be there for him, supporting him. He was probably panicked because... Emi was hurt.

Her heart raced as her stomach dropped, her mind fixating on the sickening crack and cry of Emi. That was all she could focus on.

Wait... how did Emi get hurt?

Unconsciously, Amari's breathing became shallow and sharp, a quiet counterpoint to the blaring wind. Her heart pounded erratically, a relentless drumbeat echoing in her ears, drowning out rational thought. The sense of impending doom was overwhelming, a heavy weight pressing down on her chest, making it nearly impossible to breathe.

Emi had fallen... and got hurt...

Every movement felt sluggish and surreal, and she fought to anchor herself in the present, to remind herself that she was still grounded despite the overwhelming sensations consuming her.

Amari felt as though she were falling into an abyss of inky darkness, the world around her dissolving into a void of dread. Her chest tightened further, and her breaths became shallow gasps, barely reaching her lungs. Each heartbeat seemed to echo louder, a relentless drumbeat against the encroaching silence. Her sense of time and space disintegrated, leaving her suspended in a nightmarish descent.

She struggled to grasp onto something tangible, but everything felt distant and elusive. Her thoughts, once sharp and clear, were now blurred and disjointed. Panic seized her with a cold, crushing grip, and her mind raced with morbid possibilities, imagining every terrible outcome of Emi's fall. The sickening snap replayed in her head, mingling with the haunting cries of her injured Kaiju... Her baby...

Snap

In this dark void, she felt utterly powerless. The chaotic whirl of her fears and worries was all-consuming, drowning out any semblance of control. It was as if she were falling through a chasm of her own making, her body suspended in a state of helpless terror. She reached out in vain, fingers grasping at the shadows, but found nothing to anchor her.

Her arm snapped

Her vision blurred further, and the edges of her world seemed to recede into an impenetrable darkness. Each breath came slower, more labored, as if the air itself was growing thicker and more suffocating. Her body trembled uncontrollably, caught in the vice of her own escalating anxiety.

Emi got hurt... She watched Emi get hurt.

The void pressed in on her, a crushing weight of despair that made her feel small and insignificant. Her attempts to rationalize the situation were futile against the tide of her panic. The fear of Emi's condition, combined with her own helplessness, overwhelmed her senses, pushing her further into the abyss.

She reached out once more, her fingers brushing against the inky blackness, but there was nothing to grasp, no hope to hold onto. The darkness seemed to close in around her, an ever-tightening shroud that left her feeling more isolated and powerless with each passing moment.

Her mind spiraled, and she was left struggling against the all-encompassing dread, unable to escape the inky darkness that swallowed her whole.

Then, a warm, tender sensation began to envelop her, a comfort so profound and genuine it felt like the touch of a beloved parent. It reminded her of the rare moments of affection from her mother, though her mother's comfort was seldom given. This touch was reminiscent of her father's, but with a unique quality that was both familiar and sweetly different.

It was the gentle brush of a thumb against her cheek, sending a shiver of goosebumps down her spine. Along with this soothing touch came a soft, distant call of her name.

"Amari," the voice murmured, gentle and distant.

A comforting warmth began to seep through the inky darkness, wrapping around her entire body. It flowed gently, snaking around her waist and blossoming along her arm. This soothing sensation spread like a gentle embrace.

"Ari," it echoed softly, reverberating around her, though still far off.

"Angel?"

Her heart skipped a beat.

The voice seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere, an echo reverberating through her mind and leaving her unable to pinpoint its source. Despite its elusive origin, the voice carried a profound sense of comfort amidst her panic.

"I'm here, it's okay."

The reassurance was gentle and soothing, cutting through the chaos of her thoughts.

"Open your eyes, Angel."

It asks so gently

"For me, please... open your eyes and look at me."
