Sunoo paced back and forth in his small office, the dim light from the desk lamp casting long shadows on the walls. His mind was a whirlpool of information, trying to piece together the puzzle of Jie-un's murder. The case file lay open on the desk, pages filled with notes, photographs, and interviews. Every lead seemed to branch out into a dozen more, each as tangled as the last.
"This is going to be hard to solve because Jie-un had quite a few enemies," he muttered, his voice heavy with frustration. The truth was, Jie-un had lived a life full of complications, weaving through circles where trust was scarce and betrayal was common. Business rivals, former friends, jilted lovers—the list of potential suspects was daunting. Sunoo knew that untangling the web of Jie-un's connections would be like navigating a minefield, where one wrong step could blow the whole case wide open or send him spiraling down a dead end.
He slumped into his chair, running a hand through his hair as he stared at the wall covered in pinned photos and scribbled notes. Each face stared back at him, a potential suspect with a motive strong enough to kill. But the deeper he dug, the more he realized that none of them had a clear path to the truth. The motives were there, but the evidence was sparse, and the alibis, though shaky, held up just enough to keep him guessing.
"Who could it be?" he whispered to himself, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. He knew that Jie-un wasn't an innocent victim; she had made her fair share of enemies, but which one of them had the courage to go through with it? And why?
Sunoo's thoughts drifted to Niki, his unusual partner in this convoluted dance of crime and justice. Niki had been strangely quiet since translating that ominous note left at the scene, and Sunoo couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more beneath the surface. But could he trust Niki? The man had his own secrets, his own shadows that seemed to follow him everywhere. Yet, in a twisted way, Niki's involvement had brought Sunoo closer to the truth than he ever could have managed alone.
With a deep breath, Sunoo stood up and reached for the case file again. He knew that every second wasted was a second the real killer remained free. There was no room for doubt, no space for second-guessing. Jie-un had been a complicated person, but she didn't deserve to die like this—no one did.
Sunoo's eyes narrowed as he made up his mind. "One of these enemies is going to slip up," he said with quiet determination. "And when they do, I'll be there to catch them."

Sunoo leaned forward, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied Niki's expression. "Niki, do you know of anyone else she bullied?" he questioned, his voice measured but probing, trying to gauge if there was more to the story.
Niki hesitated, his gaze shifting to the side as if searching his memory. "Uh, not really," he finally replied, his tone casual but carrying a hint of uncertainty. "On occasion, she would harass Daniel and Taki, but nothing more than just stealing some food from them. It was just small stuff, nothing serious."
Sunoo nodded, but he wasn't entirely convinced. The casual theft and minor harassment might have seemed insignificant, but in the world of Jie-un, even the smallest slights could escalate into something far more dangerous. He knew that sometimes, it was the little things—the everyday indignities—that could push someone over the edge.
"Just stealing food?" Sunoo echoed, pressing gently. "And they never fought back? Never tried to stand up to her?"
Niki shrugged, looking a bit uncomfortable under Sunoo's scrutiny. "I mean, Daniel and Taki aren't really the confrontational type. They'd just let it slide, you know? It wasn't worth the trouble. Besides, Jie-un was good at making people feel like it was no big deal, like they were overreacting if they got mad."
Sunoo absorbed this information, piecing it together with what he already knew. Daniel and Taki might not have been her primary targets ,but Niki was. But still they had still experienced her cruelty, however minor it might seem on the surface. The question was, did it stop there, or was there more that Niki wasn't aware of—or wasn't willing to share?
"Alright," Sunoo said after a moment, his voice steady. "But if you remember anything else, even if it seems small or unimportant, I need to know. Sometimes it's the little details that crack a case open."
Niki nodded, but there was a slight tension in his posture that Sunoo couldn't ignore. Whether it was nerves, guilt, or something else entirely, he wasn't sure. But one thing was clear—there were more layers to this story, and Sunoo was determined to peel them back, one by one.
