"AND NOW, MR. Stark has prepared a statement. He will not be taking any questions. Thank you." Before Rhodey could even finish, the flashes of cameras began to illuminate the podium as Tony stepped forward, taking the spot Rhodey had just vacated.
"Been a while since I was in front of you. I figure I'll stick to the cards this time." Despite Tony's expression, which seemed serious and about business, his words caused a few reporters to chuckle lightly in the audience. To which Tony just pulled out the cards Coulson so 'thoughtfully' prepared for him and began to read his statement, "There's been speculation that I was involved in the events that occurred on the freeway and the rooftop." Before Tony could say anything else, a hand in the audience rose, completely interrupting him.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Stark, but do you honestly expect us to believe that? . .that, that was a bodyguard in a suit that conveniently appeared, despite the fact that you - "
Tony's expression turned slightly annoyed as he cut off the reporter, Christine. "I know that it's confusing. It is one thing to question the official story and another thing entirely to make wild accusations or insinuate that I'm a superhero."
"I never said you were a superhero," Christine declared. This only seemed to make Tony backtrack even further, as a brief flash of offense drove through his gaze. However, as faster as it came, the quicker it left.
