It was Halloween night, and my family was attending the most talked-about haunted house. I went with my mom, dad, younger brother by 5 years, younger brother by 3 years, and twin sister to the most frightening house in the town.
I was 12, Jin was 7, Max was 9, and Ca was 12, too. Jin was an easily scared kid and would stop to fret a bit. Max was a little better at not getting scared, but if something was unsteady or creaking, he wouldn't go on it at all. Ca is like me; we both don't get scared easily sometimes, but not today she was very on edge..
As I approached the house, I thought we had the wrong address. Then a group of about four people came out the side of the house, screaming and waving their arms in the air. This is definitely the right address. We walked through the cone-shaped passage next to the bounce house that said "Enter Here" with an arrow pointing to the right.
Walking up to the driveway, we saw a dirty-blonde woman holding a cup of flashlights.
"Hello, welcome to the Haunted Halloween Maze. If you don't want to get scared, you can use this. She pulled out a flashlight from the cup and held it out.,"You can point it at the ground in front of you, and no one will scare you."
"I want to get scared! I wanna! "Can we please get scared?" My sister tugged on my mom's sleeve and was practically on the floor.
The woman put the flashlight back in the cup, and you could hear the faintest scream, "Perfect timing, I guess."
"Staff! There will be a group coming by without a flashlight. You can scare them." She looked back into the garage of the house, and then a group of people fixed their outfits and disappeared into the side yard.
We went to the next area in the garage, and there was a wheel that had little prizes under it on benches. ¨Hey guys anyone want to spin the wheel, each number is a different prize, you could potentially get 3 but it's quite rare.¨ I looked behind me to Jin and Max and they both went up to the wheel.
Jin and Max are connected at the hip so they both grabbed the wheel and spun it, they would always find a way to share the prize. The wheel went around a few times then landed on the orange pumpkin that had the word 'Loser' on it. They looked so disappointed.
¨Hey, because it landed on loser you actually get to pick a better prize then everyone else, there are no losers in this neighborhood especially the kids that come here.¨ the man said as he grabbed a bucket that was hidden behind the wheel it had all different types of stuff that looked to be bigger than the other prizes.
¨Uh, can we get the pumpkin ball?¨ Jin and Max said in unison. If anything they should be the twins not me and Ca.
"Yeah here you guys go. Alright well, once you walk through this door, the haunting will begin." He said this as he gave the boys their ball. Taking this as our cue, we went to where he pointed. We went through the side yard door entering the Haunt as they say.
We stepped onto a bridge-type thing, and the boards under us started creaking, and my sister just took off running and screaming her head off.
Meanwhile, Max, my little brother, wouldn't even step on the bridge, so I backtracked and picked him up from under the shoulders and carried him to the other end. I have done that before, so he didn't scream as much, at least. "I can't hear now; what the heck, Max?"
We went into the next room after moving the dangling caution tape, and we saw fake blood everywhere. I could feel Jin's grip on my hand tighten, and I squeezed his hand back, telling him he wasn't the only one scared; I was just slightly terrified.
