The hot nights turned cooler, and my crush for Cameron grew bigger. Even after the Fourth of July, Cameron and I were never actually "together." It was now August 25th, school started tomorrow, Trey, Gray, Cameron, and I lay in Cameron's room contemplating on what to do for our last day of summer.

"Pool party." Trey suggested.

"No, everyone is back to school shopping, it would only be us." I pushed up my glasses.

"Let's go to the mall." Gray mocked something I said a few weeks ago.

"Hahaha," Cameron laughed, "lets egg Mr.Newton's house."

Mr.Newton was the meanest, rudest, and crudest teacher at Jefferson Middle School. All four of us had him 4th hour last year, and we got him again this year. Mr.Newton lived right down the street, his fancy poodles lay in front of the house everyday in the picket fenced yard.

"Yes!" Trey sat up and high-fived Cameron. Us four teenagers sat conspiring about how and when we were going to do this. When we figured out the little details, the boys and I rode down to a dollar store, and bought two cartons of 18 eggs. Which meant 36 total, then each of us would get 9, I thought as we checked out.

Riding back, they put the eggs in my bike basket, so I had to be super careful. When we finally reached my house, it was already dark. Gray, Trey, and Cameron all dumped their bikes in my front lawn when I finally peddled up. Giving 9 eggs to everyone, we hustled down the street to Mr.Newton's house.

Feeling a wee bit scared, I asked, "will we get in trouble?"

"No no no! Know shush." Gray shut me up.

Glancing around for Mr.Newton's poodles, none of them were there. As soon as we were all clear Trey hurled the first egg, "That's for failing me first semester!" He whispered.

Cameron laughed and picked up one of his, "Kicking me out of the class for making a joke!"

"For giving me an F on my 8 paper essay!" I threw one on Mr.Newton's obnoxiously blue door he painted a few years ago. He was the only one in the neighborhood that had a colored door. The rest of his house was grey and black, probably like his soul.

It was Gray's turn, "for calling my parents about my behavior and splitting them up!!!" Gray screamed after the egg broke on the house. Gray was so mad at Mr.Newton, for he thought it was his fault that Gray and Trey's parents got a divorce last year.

All of the sudden sirens were played in the distance, so the guys and I dropped the rest of our eggs and ran. The police were too close for us to run to Cameron's house, but far enough away for us to dive into a bush across the street. We all got silent as the sirens got louder and louder.

We watched motionlessly as a cop car pulled to the side of the street, not five feet away from us. I froze. The police officer came out of the car and walked to Mr.Newton's front door. The blue door opened a crack, stayed open for a few seconds, then closed.

Another cop car pulled up and the two cops talked, then both took out a flashlight and looked around.

Two shiny black shoes crunched on the leaves in front of us, at first I thought I was in the clear, until the beam of light landed upon our guilty egg-plastered-faces.

"Albert, I found the egg-ers."
