Kai's perspective

I really hate Bob. The lack of communication, the constant bullying, and the heavy pile of work I deal with, really has me hating the guy. But I deal with working the trashy 9-5 job for a good reason. To take care of me and my girlfriend Hana.

Walking back from my office job, I kick some rocks I find across the sidewalk. I always hated office jobs because they bore me. Sucks even more with a shitty boss too.

I look ahead and see a glass display of flowers, perfect. I always make sure to bring some for Hana, sometimes even her favorite chocolates or candies after work.

Once I'm at the entrance of my apartment I check the mail. Damn it, pass rent again. The pay at my job is also horrible. I sigh and walk up the stairs to my apartment. I look back at the times when both my parents were still alive. Back then things were so much easier. Now being out in the world sucks with no help. The one thing that keeps me going is Hana.

I open the door.

"Hey babe, I'm home," I announce.

"Hey, how was work today?" Hana responds after giving me a hug and kiss.

"It went pretty well today babe," I say.

"That's great honey! Glad to hear every day of how you're enjoying your job." She says.

I know I shouldn't lie to her, but I hate making her worry. I do try my hardest to make pay for the both of us even if I am under rent, as of right now. Hana though, is still unemployed but looking for a job. I change out of my work clothes and lay in bed next to her.

With my phone and arms wrapped around my beautiful girlfriend Hana, I believed my life was perfect. Boy was I wrong. Scrolling through TikTok, I came across a funny cat video and started laughing.

"You're very hyper today," Hana, my girlfriend lying on the bed beside me comments, with a charming smile. The more she smiles at me with those hypnotizing eyes of hers I can't help but form one on my face.

"What can I say, cuddling with the love of my life makes me happy," I announce while rubbing her back, surprisingly making her giggle.

Ever since I met Hana at that orphanage for 3 years I've been drawn to her. We were both still young troubled kids moving from home to home, never quite fitting in. Both of us being seventeen we knew we possibly never would find a family until we met each other that day.

I was a very shy kid who never made friends, quite opposite to Hana who was very outgoing. She declared me her best friend the day we first met and I was shocked being the quiet kid and all. I followed her everywhere after that, we stuck together like a family later developing feelings for each other. I knew that without her I was nothing so I clung to her hoping that she could finally be the family I desired to have. Beyond any doubt, without her, I would be lost.

It was 8 pm, and I noticed my stomach was growling. "Hey babe, you think I should order pizza? It's getting pretty late so we should probably get some food," I say.

"Hmmm, how about I make you dinner today sweetie?" Hana says.

"I would love that babe but wouldn't ordering pizza be faster?" I ask. I look at her and she frowns.

"I know it's just. Never mind." Hana huffs with an anxious look on her face.

Ever since a week ago when Hana found the due rent mail hidden in my drawer, things have gotten a little tense between us, especially things concerning money. She has always wanted a life of luxury.
