For a moment, the silence was suffocating, and I could feel the tension rising, my mind racing with thoughts of how to explain what Jadon had just walked in on. But before I could even begin to formulate an excuse, Jadon's lips curved into a smirk.
"Well, I didn't know you were a physio, Marcus," he joked, his tone light and teasing. "Are you giving out free massages, or do I need to book an appointment?"
Relief washed over me so suddenly that I almost laughed out loud. Marcus's hands dropped from my shoulders as he let out a breath he'd clearly been holding, and I quickly stood up, trying to act as if everything was completely normal.
"Yeah, sorry, mate," Marcus replied, his voice laced with forced humor as he took a step back. "My hands are all booked up for today."
Jadon laughed, completely oblivious to the tension that had just filled the room. "Guess I'll have to find another way to unwind then."
As Marcus and I exchanged a quick, relieved glance, Jadon walked over to me, slipping an arm around my waist and pulling me close. His touch was familiar, easy, but there was something different about the way he was holding me now. Maybe it was the slight possessiveness in his grip, or the way his fingers lingered a little longer on my hip than usual.
He leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear as he spoke, "Missed you today, Sof. Didn't think you'd be stealing my best mate's time, though."
His voice was playful, but I could feel the undercurrent of something else, something that made me shiver slightly. I forced a smile, trying to ignore the way Marcus' eyes darkened as he watched us.
"Oh, you know," I said, trying to keep my tone light, "just needed a little help with these knots. But I'm all yours now."
Jadon grinned, clearly pleased with my response, and leaned down to kiss me—soft at first, but then deepening it, his hand moving up to tangle in my hair. The kiss was possessive, almost like he was claiming me, and I couldn't help but feel Marcus' gaze burning into us.
When Jadon finally pulled away, he kept me close, his arm still wrapped around me as if he couldn't bear to let go. "You should've been with me all day," he murmured, his lips brushing against my cheek as he spoke. "We've got so much to catch up on. How about we head upstairs, just the two of us?"
I hesitated, feeling Marcus's presence like a weight on my shoulders. But Jadon didn't seem to notice—or if he did, he didn't care. He was too focused on me, his hand sliding down to the small of my back, pulling me even closer.
"Jadon..." I started, but he cut me off with another kiss, this one shorter but no less intense.
"Come on, I've been dying to spend some time with you," he whispered against my lips, his hand moving up to cup my face. "Let's go."
I could feel Marcus's eyes on us, and I knew he was watching every move, every touch. But Jadon was completely unaware, oblivious to what was playing out right in front of him.
"Jadon, maybe we could just... hang out down here for a bit?" I suggested, trying to defuse the situation as subtly as I could.
Jadon raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that response, but he shrugged it off, his playful grin returning. "Sure, whatever you want, babe. As long as I get to hold you."
He pulled me down onto the sofa, tucking me under his arm as he started talking about his day, throwing in jokes and flirting with every other sentence. His hand was constantly on me—stroking my arm, playing with my hair, brushing against my leg. It was sweet, but also so overwhelming that I felt like I was suffocating under the weight of his affection.
