Y/N's POV:
"Lubbock!" I grasped his sweaty hand, as we sprinted through the darkness. I panted loudly, branches slapping against my face, leaving an array of bloody scratches. "I- I c- can't" my pleas came out in a raggedy breath, my heart pounding loudly against my ribcage.
"Just a little further Y/N. I promise we're nearly there".
Gulping, I quietly hummed in response, my gaze remaining on the green haired boy, as he continued pushing through the shrub.
"Shit!" Loud screams of pain erupted from behind me and I halted in my tracks.
"Oof, Ow".
I strained my eyes and ears. Everything was silent.
"Y/N?"
"W- we have to go back. They need help". My eyes brimmed with tears and I sniffled loudly. 'I cant cry right now'.
"Hey, hey, I know you're worried about them, but it's too dangerous to go back". Lubbock gripped my cheeks, gently wiping the stray tears from my eyes. "I promised Tatsumi I'd protect you and that's what I plan to do". "We're almost there. We'll wait about an hour and if the others haven't found us by then, then we'll go back, okay?"
Nodding, I glanced away, before chuckling. "Sorry, how embarrassing".
Lubbock returned my laugh, "It's okay to cry, don't be embarrassed. I happen to think it's quite cute".
Pouting, I shoved the boy's arm. "you think me crying is cute?"
"W- wha!?" "N- no, that's not what I meant!" The boy had a look of horror on his face, his cheeks a bright red. I laughed, clutching my stomach. "I'm just teasing you".
The boy's face grew a deeper red and he awkwardly cleared his throat. "Whatever".
"Hah, you're the one embarrassed now! Your face is all red Lubbock!"
"D- don't look at me".
"I think it's cute as well!" I giggled, skipping ahead. "Get a move on now!"
Although I couldn't see his face, I knew that it was probably as red as a beet. How I loved teasing him. It was just too easy.

Lubbock's POV:
'God, this girl is gonna be the death of me'. I nervously twirled a strand of hair in between my fingers. We sat in uncomfortable silence, my attention on anything but the girl sitting next to me. And I mean like RIGHT next to me. Her knees were pressed to her chest and her hips caressed mine, as she she shuffled her back against the wall. Her chin lay in the crevice between her knees and she wrapped her arms around her legs, twiddling with a single flower that sprouted by her feet.
"Do you think everyone's okay?" I felt her gaze on me, but I didn't dare make eye contact, for fear of my heart exploding.
"Y- yeah, they're okay. I know it. We just have to believe in them".
"Lubbock?"
"Hmm..."
I turned my head towards the girl. A mistake. 'Gah, so close!'
Y/N's head still lay on her knees, however, she was now facing me. Her (h/c) hair flowed freely down her legs, her messy fringe cascading over her dazzling (e/c) eyes. My eyes widened, as the girl giggled. A sound I loved. Her fingertip caressed the tip of my nose. "You need to lighten up a bit Lubbock. We're safe now aren't we?" "And we're here together".
