cold. dark.

pressing on his throat. pulling apart his lungs.

liam awakens with a gasp, face drenched in sweat. he takes his hands off someone and clenches them on the cover. he tries to breathe, but his chest is compressed and he can't.

someone turns around. their eyes meet. liam's gaze is frantic and unfocused. amelia's gaze is worried.

a hand on his cheek. the touch seems to ground him.

amelia slowly caresses his shaking frame. liam, panting, just looks into her eyes. it brings him calmness, makes it easier to breathe.

he doesn't need to speak. she knows.
