Summary:
When Bradley Jr. gets a detention right on the day he and Kylie were meant to go on a date, all seems lost. But the mandatory schoolwork doesn't turn out to be that bad, and even an accident in the storeroom can't ruin your mood when you're with the person you love the most.

Notes:
This is my Christmas gift for my friend @edgyphaze4everr. I know I'm late over a month 😭 Sorry it took so long. Also, everyone, please check Edgy out, she is an epic writer :)

"Bradley Silva, your penalty is to stay after school and hang Christmas decorations in the hall."

Junior goggled his eyes, disbelieving in what the headmaster just said. Her face expressed stern dominance: she probably enjoyed seeing his confused stare while sitting leisurely on her comfortable plush chair, playfully tapping her fingers together.

It was at this moment that he felt a pang of anxiety. If she really forced him to work afterclass, he would miss his date. His first date with Kylie, the date that he'd planned for two weeks. What will I tell her?! he panicked.

"Ms. Ridley, I can't stay today - I have a meeting planned at..."

"I'm not interested in your meetings," she scoffed. "You've been skipping classes, and I will not tolerate that. You always have a 'meeting' more important than school. So this penalty should teach you to better organise your time."

Fiery words caught up in Junior's throat, his fists balled up. This was ridiculous. He wanted to tell Ms. Ridley off, but her authority was enough to cut that short - he feared she might punish him more if he stood up to her.

So he forced himself to calm down and through his clenched teeth, he uttered : "Yes, madam."

She smirked. "Very well. You probably know that your class is the one taking care of this task; they should be in the classroom 13. You may join them." She leaned closer, a scowl on her face. "And if you're tardy again, the consequences will be far worse than just doing community work."

As he exited the office, he 'unintentionally' slammed the door.

Kylie was waiting for him outside the office - wringing her hands, nervously glancing at the door. She was worried. What could the headmaster want from Brad? From the looks, it wasn't anything good.

The loud slam made her flinch. Junior was approaching her, sulky and defeated. He stopped and glanced at her, embarrassment filling his eyes.

"Kylie, we can't go on our date," he said. "She gave me a detention."

"...Oh."

"I'm really, really sorry... I promise I'll make it up to you, okay? We can find another day, I know it's hard for you, but..." He looked down, trailing off.

Junior cursed the headmaster in his mind. It took them so long to find a suitable day for their date: Kylie worked in Epic Burger most of the afternoons, as well as on the weekends, and she needed the rest of the time to study - so she rarely had any leisure. He knew this would be a disappointment for her, and he hated himself for putting her in this situation.

They were supposed to go to the premiere of a recent Christmas movie - 'Letters to Santa', or something like that, it was called. Then he would take Kylie to a freshly-opened cafe and buy her whatever she wanted. Both of these things were new in some way or another - that was the exciting factor. Junior had also felt proud that he would be able to pay for Kylie like a real gentleman.
