Chapter 10

It's been a year and I think she is ready to meet the others.

"𝑳𝒆𝒏! 𝑯𝒆𝒚. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖?" Did I just ask her how she is? I don't do that.

"𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒌? 𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝑲𝒂𝒊 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐𝒗? She laughed.

"𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏, 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔." I looked down at her.

"𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔? 𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔?" She sat down.

"𝑭𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆." I walked.

We walk into the elevator and it was silent, but not an awkward silence. We reach the middle floor where we meet the group.

"𝒀𝒐! 𝑮𝒖𝒚𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝑳𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒚, 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑳𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒂, 𝑴𝒂𝒙 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒏." I introduce.

"𝑯𝒊." That's it? Hi?

"𝑯𝑬𝒀𝒀!" I see Adalyn jogging over and giving Len a hug.

"𝒀𝒐." From Max.

"𝑼𝑮𝑯𝑯𝑯.. 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑮𝑶𝑻𝑻𝑨 𝑩𝑬 𝑲𝑰𝑫𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑴𝑬 𝑹𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻 𝑵𝑶𝑾! 𝑵𝑶𝑻 𝑯𝑬𝑹, 𝑺𝑯𝑬 𝑰𝑺 𝑱𝑼𝑺𝑻 𝑫𝑰𝑺𝑮𝑼𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑵𝑮!" Nova looked at Len with disgust.

"𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒆?!" Len might be getting a bit angry.

"𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒇 𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏 𝒅𝒖𝒎𝒃 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆?" She walked over, crossing her arms.

"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎? 𝑯𝒖𝒉? 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎?!" Yep, Lenny was getting angry.

"𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆." Nova gave Len a dirty look.

"𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕, 𝒏𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖! 𝑩𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒄𝒖𝒛 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝑨𝑴𝑬 𝑭𝑼𝑪𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑻𝑬𝑨𝑴!!!!! Yep Len was angry, but Nova looked mad.

"𝑴𝑬?! 𝑨 𝑩𝑰𝑻𝑪𝑯?! 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑵𝑬𝑬𝑫 𝑻𝑶 𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲 𝑰𝑵 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑴𝑰𝑹𝑹𝑶𝑹!!" Yep, Nova was ready for a fight.

"𝑶𝒉 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚, 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒔𝒐 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅, 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒘𝒂𝒕!" Lenny had gained confidence after she joined the Agency and that is why she was swearing and actually arrguing.

"𝑴𝑬 𝑨 𝑻𝑾𝑨𝑻?! 𝑻𝑯𝑨𝑻'𝑺 𝑰𝑻!" And with that Nova pounced onto Len and started pulling at her hair but Lenny wasn't having it. Lenny slapped Nova but the slap was so loud that it had other people from all over the room turning their heads and a little crowd started gathering. As the two were wresteling I finally stepped in and managed to pull them away from eachother and finally, they stopped.

"𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈! 𝑵𝑶𝑾!" I shooed the crowd away and turned the two.

"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖?! 𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎! 𝑮𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓! 𝑩𝑶𝑻𝑯 𝑶𝑭 𝒀𝑶𝑼! 𝑶𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌. 𝑫𝑶 𝑼𝑵𝑫𝑬𝑹𝑺𝑻𝑨𝑵𝑫?!" Ok I kinda lost my temper but hey, these two were being idiots so of course I was going to yell. I'm a short tempered man.

"𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒕!" Nova had the nerve to say that and it made Lennys eye twitch, which wasn't good.

"𝑺𝒉𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌 𝒖𝒑 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒂! 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒖𝒑 𝒎𝒂𝒏. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒓." I am losing it.

"𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕." Nova was pissing me off.

"𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍, 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓! 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖! 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒊𝒏'𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒍! 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒚! 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆!" First time I have ever defended anyone in my life.

Nova was taken aback by what I had said and we were all silent. I glanced over at Lenny who was looking at me in shock. She smiled at me but I didn't return it. I can't be soft around her anymore. That is final.

"𝑼𝒉𝒎..𝑳𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒓. 𝑶𝒌?" I said while not looking at her.

"𝒀𝒆𝒂, 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆." Len collected her things, said her goodbyes and left. It felt tense for some time but Max saved us by talking about his new motorbike and how it 'purrs'. But while we were talking Nova stormed out and we just stood there.

"𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒖𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒆𝒓?" Max asked

"𝑵𝒐 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆." Maybe it was my fault. Maybe I was too harsh?
