First impressions are important, but not all first impressions can really tell you about a person. But this encounter might just be an exception. You see, a boy once helped a girl out of a forest and... well, let's let her take the tale.

I was scared and alone, the past three weeks have been horrible. I've only made one friend in this Summer Camp! Leaf introduced me to Gary, who get hit by her for making fun of me. She did mention another named Ash, but we couldn't seem to get a hold of him, she did say he was kinder then Gary is. I really hoped Ash was the opposite of the Young Oak boy.

Today was another day where I hung out with Leaf, but once again Gary and his friends made fun of me for my accent and the way I dressed. I felt tears in my eyes and ran into the forest area, I could hear Leaf berate Gary as I passed her. The boy just smirked and said something, not looking the least bit repentant of his actions. His other friends just jeered and laughed at my predicament by his hands!

My tears ran as I raised my knees to my chest and said, "Why did Mom never want to move here? I hate this place. I've only got one friend, and her other friends are a bully! MOMMY!"

Suddenly I was startled by the bush rustling, I stood, but in my haste I slipped and scraped my knee, I nearly screamed when I saw that a Pokemon had popped out of the bush. It was small and blue, with a patch of white around its stomach. Then a boy ran after it and held it in his hands.

He said, "Caught you Poliwag! Now, now, little guy I know you don't like Gary but that's no reason to make Professor Oak worry about missing a Pokemon from the field's area."

"Poli. Poliwag..." The little creature seemed to look contrite at the scolding it was receiving from the boy.

He smiled and patted the Pokemon on the head, "It's fine. If Gary ever does something to make you sad or annoyed you come to me or go to the Professor alright."

"Poli." Responds to the Mon fondly nuzzling the boy's hand.

He chuckled, "Alright. Let..."

Our eyes met and the world fell away from me, those deep brown - almost chocolate like - eyes were so warm and inviting.

He placed the Mon down and walked towards me.He spoke gently, "Hey there... sorry for not noticing you. Are you alright? What happened?"

"I'm... My knee is scraped!" I wailed feeling the sting as he touched the injured area.

He looked towards me worriedly, "Oh no. What caused this?"As he asked this he was taking out a first aid kit from his sling bag and a handkerchief from his pocket, he beckoned the small Pokemon towards us.

He spoke gently to it, "Hey Poliwag, would you mind doing something for me?"

"Po.. poli-wag?" The creature says looking at him.

He nods and smiles, "Use a bubble on her wound to clean it please. Do it gently."

The Mon looked at me as if asking if it was fine, I nod unable to speak. Poliwag was super gentle in applying bubbles effectively clearing the mud and dirt from the wound. Then the boy sprayed some antiseptic onto the wound further clearing it from infection, I sniffed trying to hold in the pain the slight sting brought.

He looked towards me worriedly and he must have felt me stiffen, "I'm sorry! I know it may sting a little."

I had to smile at his reaction to my reflex, I shook my head..."N-no. Don't be sorry, I'm just thankful you're doing this at all." I tell him honestly.

He shakes his head, "I hate seeing people get hurt. Can you stand?"

I looked at him uncertainly, I tried to stand and take a couple of steps. I felt a sharp pain from the wound and fell again. Tears came into my eyes.

"It still hurts!" I cried.

I felt him move and something came upon my knee. I opened my eyes and saw he had used his light blue handkerchief to cover my wound. I looked towards him, and he smiled boyishly waving his hands over the now covered wounds.

He said, "Now. Pain, pain go away!"

As if he was saying a spell of some sort. Strangely enough, I felt the stinging ebb away. I couldn't trust myself to stand, in case I fell again. Then a hand came atop mine, it was his hand.

He looked determined and pulled up using his strength, "Don't give up until it's over!"

He pulled a little too hard and ended up stumbling as I slightly fell atop him. He regained his balance and caught me, straightening our stance. His arm was wrapped around my waist, while mine was around his neck. The little Poliwag followed us out of the forest.

He spoke again, "I'm Ash, Ash Ketchum. You must be the new friend Leaf mentioned."

"I'm Serena, Serena Yvonne. Yeah, Leaf and I met a week ago. She's the only friend I've made in the camp so far. She introduced me to Gary, though." I tell him trying not to sound disgusted at the mention of the auburn haired boy's name.

But he caught it and subtly tightened his hold around my waist, "Was he the reason why you ran into the forest?"

"Y-yes. He's been so mean to me! I can't stand him." I tell him anger seeping into my voice.

He rubbed my shoulder in comfort, "Hey now, I know how you feel. I've known him for a long time now, but he still manages to annoy me. You see, he is Professor Oak's Grandson. And he likes to rub that fact in our faces sometimes, he thinks he knows everything. His parents and grandfather try to curb his attitude but so far nothing seems to be getting into his head. You can hang with me if you want?"

The offer caught me off guard. Here was a boy who was kind and considerate wanting to become my friend, I could tell he was nervous and he meant his offer. I hugged him tighter in response.

"That'd be great Ash!" I say feeling giddy at the prospect of finally making another friend.

Little did I know... this was just the beginning of our journey filled with adventure and romance.

Hello! A little bit of a summer fan fic for you all! So those who love SatoSere, this story is for you. It's going to be a little bit of a song fic as every other chapter or so will be related to some cute romantic soundtrack, I will mention the songs and their artists at the start of every chapter. The first few chapters of this story will feature young Ash and Serena in Summer Camp, until it is time for her to leave for Kalos.
