In the empty wasteland.

Three groups were in a standoff.

I could understand He Mu Sheng and Huo Zi An being there...

But why was the domineering CEO Fu Ming Chen here too!?

My appearance shattered the calm.

All three looked at me, their expressions all confused.

I awkwardly waved, "Hi!"

Huo Zi An roared, "Lin Zhi! Get over here!"

I rolled my eyes,

Do you think I don't want to come over?

There's a gun to my waist.

He Mu Sheng's men pushed me forward, and I looked at Fu Ming Chen, utterly puzzled.

"What are you doing here?"

Fu Ming Chen looked at me with a complicated expression, "Miss Lin, I realized I misunderstood you last time."

"After I went back, I remembered you were the one who saved me at the company entrance."

"So?"

Fu Ming Chen righteously declared, "I'm here to repay you."

"Don't worry, my bodyguard team is professional, they'll definitely rescue you!"

Honestly, I really wanted to pry open this CEO's head and see how much nonsense was inside!

I then looked at Huo Zi An, "Why are you here too?"

Huo Zi An's face showed signs of fatigue. He looked at me for a long time without saying anything.

It was He Mu Sheng who laughed first.

"He came looking for you."

"When he found out you were missing, he almost trashed my Qianli Club."

I looked at Huo Zian, feeling like I had a fishbone stuck in my throat.

It seems like... I've caused him trouble again.

He Mu Sheng walked up beside me, placing a hand on my shoulder.

Huo Zi An and Fu Ming Chen shouted in unison, "Don't touch her!"

He Mu Sheng laughed even more brilliantly, "You guys are really interesting."

Huo Zi An spoke, his voice a bit hoarse, "He Mu Sheng, let her go. I'll trade myself for her."

He Mu Sheng shook his head, "That's no fun."

He thought for a moment, then suddenly leaned close to my ear, "How about we play a game?"

This madman!

I cursed inwardly, but had to put on a friendly face, "What game?"

He Mu Sheng: "You took a thorn out of my side, I should return the favor, right?"

Sure enough, he knew the note was from me.

"How about this," he said, pointing at Fu Ming Chen and Huo Zian, "you choose one of them to take with you."

I shivered, "And the other?"

He Mu Sheng smiled, "That's none of your concern."

"I'll give you a minute to decide."

That minute felt incredibly long.

No matter who I chose, the other one would surely die.

Fu Ming Chen can't die.

If he dies, I can't go back.

But what about Huo Zi An?

I slowly looked at him. He stood there, not too far but not too close.

If he dies, I think I would be very sad.

"Ding—"

He Mu Sheng: "Time's up."

When Huo Zi An rushed out, my heart nearly stopped.

He moved so fast that no one had time to react.

"Fu Ming Chen, protect Lin Zhi!"

He shouted this as he and He Mu Sheng crashed to the ground together.

Fu Ming Chen reacted quickly too, grabbing my hand and pulling me to the side.

Bang—

I didn't know whose gun went off.

My mind went blank, and I turned to see Huo Zi An and He Mu Sheng wrestling on the ground, fighting for the gun.

He Mu Sheng's men didn't dare fire, so they tried to pull Huo Zi An off.

Everyone piled on him.

"Hurry!" I frantically tugged at Fu Ming Chen's sleeve, "Get your people to help him! Quick!"

Bang—

Another gunshot.

Everyone scattered from the ground.

Huo Zi An clutched his arm, collapsing to the ground.

Blood was everywhere...

He Mu Sheng laughed maniacally, then stumbled to his feet.

He stepped on Huo Zi An's injured arm, aiming the gun at his head.

"Die."

"Huo Zi An!!" It felt like a hand was gripping my heart, the pain suffocating me.

"He Mu Sheng! Stop!"

Bang—

A gunshot rang out, startling the birds in the trees, causing them to flap their wings and fly away.

Leaving us bewildered beneath the trees.

He Mu Sheng looked at the bloody hole in his chest, disbelief on his face, spat out a mouthful of blood, then collapsed.

"Hahahahaha!" A deep man's laughter came from behind, "He Mu Sheng! I finally got my revenge! Hahahaha!"

Seeing Camel, covered in blood and barely recognizable, I felt a deep sense of guilt!

A tough guy who can fight his way out of a heavy siege and take down his enemies with his own hands, I should have at least made him the second male lead back then!

"Don't move!"

"Raise your hands!!"

...

Huo Zi An's colleagues finally arrived.

Camel and He Mu Sheng's men were quickly subdued.

I pushed away Fu Ming Chen's hand and stumbled toward Huo Zi An.

He was still conscious.

At least he could still recognize me.

I watched his lips move and quickly bent down, "What do you want to say?"

Huo Zi An weakly said, "Stop crying..."

His voice made me want to cry even more.

I was terrified, afraid that he was really going to die.

"Crying makes you look ugly."

Me: "..."

Might as well just let him die.
