I hate waiting rooms. They smell like death and you always have to wait for good news or bad news. No in between. It felt like a lifetime before my mom came out and told us to come in. She had been crying and her face was all puffy and red. My mom said they had already started testing. We walked into a room with a wall made of glass that looks into another big room with a doughnut-like machine. My brother was on a bed and going through that machine. I was so terrified as to what was going to happen. I didn't even know what they were testing for until the doctor started talking about cancer and a bunch of other medical stuff I couldn't understand. He told us that Oliver would have his results in the next hour and that he would admitted to the 3rd floor while we wait. When his test was done, 2 nurses put him on a rolling bed and rolled him all the way up to the 3rd floor. My dad and I came with him, but my mom didn't come. I think she was talking to the doctor about what Ollie might have or what might happen.
I was in Ollie's room holding his hand when he started to wake up. Dad was outside calling someone.
"Hi Ollie." I said wiping away my tears.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Well. You feel asleep at the Jones' and you couldn't wake up. So...we brought you here to make sure you would wake up." I said.
A very worried expression came onto his face.
"Is the sleeping boogie monster mad with me?" he asked frightened.
I laughed while wiping my tears again.
"I guess he is. But, he won't be mad at you for long. I know it." I said as I kissed him on the forehead and headed out the door.
"Please don't go. Don't leave me in here alone." he said.
I turned to look at him. Tears started streaming down my face.
"I'm not going anywhere." I said as I got onto his bed and lied down next to him. His small hand took mine and before we knew it, we were both asleep.
