"BYE MOM, love you," Adeline smiled as she exited the vehicle. Not failing to notice the stares she was receiving the second her foot hit the ground.
Right, she's new.
With her bag slung over her shoulder, Adeline began the small walk up to the school doors. Her lip between her teeth as her skin pricked from curious gazes.
She was at least grateful that it was the first day, she and her mom had spent the week settling in and unpacking. She hadn't even gotten a chance to explore the town.
"Hey sweetheart! Haven't seen you around before." Her attention was pulled to her side, where a boy jogged up to her with a smirk. He was cute, cocky. But cute. "I'm Tyler, and you're absolutely gorgeous."
"Hi, Adeline." She smiled softly, taking his outstretched hand. She blinked dumbly when he brought it up to his lips, eyes never leaving hers as she felt her cheeks grow hot.
"Tyler! What the hell man?" A new voice shouted, pulling the boy back by his shoulder. "Don't you have a girlfriend or something du- woah," The puppy looking boy stood in awe, lips parted in lost words as he stared down at the girl.
"Close your mouth Matt, you'll catch flies," Tyler mused, patting his friend on the back before leaving Adeline with a wink.
"Uh, h-hey," he cleared his throat, cheeks tinted pink when she giggled. It sounded heavenly. "I'm Matt, sorry about him."
"No, no, he was great. Very charming." She joked, "I'm Adeline, nice to meet you."
Matt offered her a smile, "You too. Uhh, how about i show you to the office?"
"I'd love that, thanks." Her own smile grew as she walked beside him, involuntarily hiding behind his frame as she watched groups of students break out into whispers.
"Don't mind them, we don't get new students often." He comforted, "And we most definitely don't get ones as pretty as you."
Adeline nodded with a faint blush as they walked into the school's doors. A group of jocks smirking widely at her from their spot leaning against the lockers. She smiled politely, watching as they all began to fist bump each other at the mere interaction.
"Oh. My. Gosh!" A high voice squealed out, a blonde girl hurriedly making her way to them. "Matt? Who is this? Are you finally over Elena? She is so gorgeous!" She rambled, pulling the shorter girl in for a hug. "Hi, i'm Caroline. And i love your skirt."
Adeline's eyes widened in surprise, slowly wrapping her hands around the blonde. "I'm Adeline."
"It's so nice to meet you Adeline, we are totally friends now by the way. Oh, there's Elena now. Bye!" She hurried off, leaving the girl to glance up at Matt with a giggle. "She's nice."
