THE NEXT MORNING, Adeline woke up with her blanket tight up to her chest. She must've gotten cold. Glancing to her window, she noticed the crack in the middle from it not being closed properly. That explained a lot.
Locking the latch shut, the girl rose from the comfort of her bed. School, great.
Adeline made her way into her bathroom, getting herself ready for a new day. She wore a simple white tank top with a pair of jeans. Covering it up with her favorite pink cardigan.
Two consecutive buzzes on her dresser drew her attention to her phone. It was Tyler, telling her that he would give her a ride to school. She giggled to herself, typing back an 'okay' when message was followed by an 'if you want to of course-matt.'
"Morning mom," the girl smiled, taking a seat next to the woman and placing two pancakes on her plate.
"Morning hun, ready for school?"
"I guess." Adeline ate a piece of her pancake, savoring the sweet syrup on the fluffy goodness. "There's a back to school party tonight."
"Just don't stay out too late?" The woman answered knowingly.
Upon hearing a honk outside her door, Adeline jumped out of her seat. Placing a small kiss to her mother's cheek before grabbing her bag. "I won't, I promise. Bye!"
An immediate smile was brought to the boys' faces when they spotted her. Speed walking to Tyler's jeep with a grin.
Matt chuckled, watching her do a little run before entering the vehicle. Before she could greet them, his arm was outstretched towards her, using his thumb to wipe away the small drop of syrup at the side of her lips. "You have a little.. right there."
"Damn, wasn't familiar with your game Mr. Donovan."
"Shut up Ty."
It didn't take long for a conversation to kick off, which mostly involved Tyler's teasing for the whole ride.
Reaching the school, Matt sighed in faux relief. The three exiting the vehicle to walk side by side into the school. The two boys had really taken a liking to her in just one day. And while she'd assumed it was only on a friendly level, they knew that it was so much more.
Adeline was reading the book in Matt's hand intently. It was a page that Mr. Tanner had assigned them to read, which she had completely forgotten about. The puppy boy made sure to keep a hand on her back, guiding her through the crowd of students as she attempted to cram the gibberish sea of words.
"Uh oh," Matt sighed, watching as Vicky began storming towards them. "Bye Ty," He maneuvered Adeline in the opposite direction. Deciding that it would be better not to hear his best friend and sister have their couples quarrel.
"You going to the party tonight?" He questioned, leaning on the lockers next to her as she packed away her stuff. "Mhm, Caroline says i don't have a choice."
