I sat down in an armchair across from Ishanvi and Mihir, the glass of smoothie in my hands. They were both watching me silently, their expressions solemn and expectant.
I took a sip of the smoothie, the cold liquid doing little to calm my nerves. Then, I set the glass down on the coffee table in front of me and looked up at my friends. "There's something I have to tell you," I began, my voice barely above a whisper.
Mihir and Ishanvi leaned forward in their seats, their eyes fixed on me. "Go on," Ishanvi said gently.
I took a deep breath, gripping the edge of the armchair. "Something happened last night," I said, my voice shaking slightly. "Something... bad."
I saw them exchange glances, and I could sense their anxiety rising. "What do you mean?" Mihir asked quietly.
"I..." My throat felt tight, and I had to force the words out. "I was attacked... in an alleyway."
A silence fell over the room as my words echoed in the air. Mihir and Ishanvi's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "What?" Ishanvi breathed out, her face going pale.
"I was walking down the road, after you guys left from there," I began, my voice shaking as I relived the terrifying memory. "Suddenly, a man appeared out of nowhere and grabbed me around the waist."
My friends listened in stunned silence, their expressions horror-stricken. "He wrapped one hand around my mouth to stop me from screaming," I continued, my body trembling slightly as the image of his hand over my mouth came back to me.
"He dragged me into a dark alley and... and pushed me against the wall," my voice cracked slightly as I spoke, the pain of the memory almost too much.
Mihir's face darkened, anger flashing in his eyes. Ishanvi had a hand over her mouth in shock. "What did he do?" she asked quietly, her voice choked with horror.
"He... he started talking to me," I said, my voice low and shaky. "Saying... terrible things."
"But then..." I paused, a lump forming in my throat as I remembered the savior who had appeared out of nowhere. "Someone else showed up."
"Who?" Ishanvi asked, her eyes wide. Mihir was gripping the edge of the sofa, his knuckles turning white.
"I... I didn't know him," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "But he saw what was happening and he... he saved me."
There was a moment of collective relief as Mihir and Ishanvi exhaled, some tension leaving their bodies. "Oh, thank god," Ishanvi murmured, pressing a hand to her chest.
I nodded, a faint smile tugging at my lips. "Yes. If it wasn't for him..." I trailed off, the thought of what could have happened making me shudder.
Mihir was frowning, a look of anger still on his face. "Did you get a look at the guy who attacked you?" he asked, his tone sharp.
